“I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for MedImmune Specialty Care. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.”

It's pretty much heeeerrrreeee...cold and flu season is ready to strike and the last thing you need is to get sick right before the holiday season, so make sure you take every precaution to stay healthy, happy, and get the most out of your holidays.

Tips to Stay Healthy During Flu Season

1. Get a good night's rest every night.
This is when your body recharges it's battery so it can continue to fight off colds, flu germs, and anything else that comes your way.

2. Eat healthy.

The more vitamins and nutrients you put in your body (in addition to your daily vitamin), the more healthy your immune system can be when it comes to protecting you from getting sick.

3. Exercise.

Even if it's just taking the stairs at work everyday, as long as you are exercising you are going to be making your body and your immune system stronger so it can fight germs and help you heal quicker if you do catch something.

Of course germs are inevitable and they will always be around you everywhere you go, so here are some tips to minimize the spread of germs!

1. Wash your hands.

Not only are you getting other people's germs off your hands, but you are keeping yours clean as well so you aren't spreading them around at work or at home.

2. Don't touch your eyes and mouth.

It's one of the quickest ways germs can enter your body!

3. Cover your mouth with your sleeve or a tissue when you cough or sneeze.

Make sure you always cover your mouth so that you aren't sending germs out into the air for others to catch!

I already had one cold last month and my parents were struggling with some cold symptoms as well but just last week we got our flu shots so we are ready to kick the flu's butt if it even tries to come our way!

It may be easy to safeguard yourself, but what about your kids? Well, Elizabeth Pantley's ebooklet "A Parent's Guide to Flu Season" helps educate parents on what they need to know and what precautions they should take to keep their children healthy.

It's actually a very informative read. I couldn't believe that in less than 10 years, the flu went from the 65th to the 10th most common reason children were hospitalized. That's out of control!!!

In order to keep your children safe it's important to discuss proper hygiene with them like washing their hands often, and being mindful of how they cough or sneeze. Another great way to prevent them from getting ill is by vaccinating them against the flu.

I also really enjoyed the chart that shows the differences between cold and flu symptoms.

So...are you ready now? GOOD!
