HELP! Anyone With A Memory Foam Mattress?!?!

Thursday, September 17, 2015

So when we got our home we also decided to purchase a Simmons Beautyrest Gel/Memory Foam Mattress.   Within a couple of weeks I began waking up every morning with upper back pain. The pain is so bad that if I wake up at 4 or 5 am to pee, it's so hard to fall back to sleep because it hurts.   I sleep on my side and I have a great Tempurpedic pillow that I've used with no problems for years.  It's amazing.   So I am torn.   We don't know if we should get a new mattress or what we can do?!?   So I'm reaching out to you guys in the hopes that maybe you have had a similar experience?  Or am I crazy and just the only person that actually has pain from a mattress that is said to help relieve pain.

The other thing is, if I take Ibuprophen before bed, I won't wake up in pain.   I don't want to become an Ibu-addict and take it almost every night.   HELP!

  1. I had the same problem. I ditched the memory foam and got a regular pillow top and have never been happier.

  2. I sleep fine on them but my fiance has the same problem as you...I want a memory foam mattress so badly but I know I can never have one! I would maybe contact the place you bought it from and see what they can do for you.

  3. When my husband and I bought a new bed it took my body a couple of months to adjust - whenever I spend a night away from my regular bed I ALWAYS have back pain! For me, it's normal and I've come to expect it, but everyone is different and I can understand not wanting to take a pill every night! I would say if it's been a while and it's no better definitely get a different mattress! XO -Kim

  4. If you are in that much pain, I would definitely get a different mattress. I've laid on one of those and it seems a bit hard to me, but I know people who love them. I hope you find relief from your back pain soon.

  7. I purchased a foam mattress as well. I purchased a 12 inch mattress thinking it would help alleviate the tension pain in my neck and shoulders. I was wrong my entire back hurts from my neck to my hips. I tried my sister's foam mattress and I thought "this is lovely so I switched and now I regret not getting a regular mattress.
