Three Unforgivable Sins If You Want To Keep Healthy

We hear so much about keeping healthy these days. It’s all over the news and social media, and all the different instructions can get pretty confusing. If you want to keep healthy, avoid these three sins listed below, as they can have a major impact on your long-term health.

Fizzy drinks

Everyone seems to love sodas, and there's nothing wrong with them in moderation. But if you're drinking more than one serving a day, they can have a huge effect on your health. This is true whether you drink the full of sugar version or the diet version. If you're drinking the full sugar version, a single serving can have up to 400 cals.  Any more than that one serving can put you over your caloric allowance for the day. Diet drinks seem like a better option, but studies have shown that your body reacts in a strange way to them. Your body expects the calories in a full sugar drink, but doesn't get them, so will send hungry messages from your brain is your stomach. This means you will want to eat that amount of calories anyway! So drinking diet drinks can make you hungrier, which is not a good option if you are trying to watch your weight and stay healthy.

Junk Food

Again moderation is key here. No one saying that you can't go for a burger on the weekend, have a slice of pizza for lunch, or grab a hot dog at the game. However junk food is just that, it's junk! This means it has no real nutritional value. Junk food is full of sugar, fats, and simple carbohydrates which give you a boost of energy but don't provide any long-term nutrition. To have a balanced diet, you must include protein which keeps you feeling fuller for longer. You also need vegetables which provide fiber, water and nutritional vitamins. Lastly, make sure you eat complex carbohydrates which are digested slowly and release energy in a more measured way. So next time you reach for that candy bar think about whether you really need it!

Not getting regular check-ups

It is important to get regular checkups with your physician. I am not talking about sprinting to the doctors every time you hear about a new health scare. But if you have a genuine concern it’s always best to get it checked out. Regular health monitoring can identify and treat any problems early. This can make all the difference in your long-term health. If you find it difficult to get an appointment at the doctor's office, why not make an online doctors appointments. This is where you get a video session with a qualified medical practitioner who can help you can help diagnose you and recommend treatment.

Burning the candle at both ends

Lastly, as Mom used to say ‘don't be burning the candle at both ends’. That's right if you are doing too much and getting too little sleep this can seriously affect your health. It can make you feel lethargic, increase your stress levels and over a period of time,  it can even affect how your body digests food and how your skin looks. Try and get 7 to 8 hours of good, unbroken sleep a night, if it all possible. There are some cool devices like this Lumi Clock that can help you get to sleep.
