‘Will You Marry Me?’ Why Being Engaged Is The Best

If you are newly engaged, congratulations are in order. Saying ‘yes’ is an amazing experience, and one that only happens once (hopefully!). The reason it is so amazing is that of the positives that come with the engagement. Of course, there is the moment you tell your family and loved ones, and the presents at the shower. But, there is so much more to look forward to that it's difficult to keep the excitement inside. For all you nearly newlyweds, here are the best parts of slipping the ring on your finger.

Feeling Secure

Even when you have a boyfriend, there is still a feeling of insecurity. It is almost like the relationship isn’t official until you get married. Although that can sound a bit stupid, there is a method in the madness. After all, marriage is a sign that you are one-hundred percent committed to the relationship. Plus, not to take the romance out of the situation, but it is a contract. And, within it there is a vow to love and look after each other for the rest of your life. If that doesn’t make a person feel secure, nothing will!

The Ring (Clearly)

Some features of your engagement will take you by surprise. The ring, however, will not. Let’s face it, people are materialistic. But, this time you get to embrace the feeling instead of subduing it as you normally do. For some reason, average diamonds are flashy, whereas diamond engagement rings are cute and beautiful. As a result, there aren’t many better feelings than wearing the ring without shame and showing it off to anyone with eyes. Even if the ring is small and dainty, the emotions are still very strong.

Impromptu Champagne

Nothing brings on a magnum of champagne quite like a wedding announcement. Out of nowhere, a family member or friend pops a cork and the drinking begins in earnest. And, it continues for a pretty long time. What’s great about it is that you don’t have to worry about the tab, either. People appear from out of the woodwork to buy you drinks and congratulate both of you on a momentous occasion, and you should let them. After all, you are going to have to fork out for the wedding, so enjoy it while you can.

Overwhelming Happiness

Although the features above are nice, they don’t compare to the feeling of happiness. Sure, a diamond ring is beautiful, but it will never be worth more than the sensation of unbridled joy. And, that is what you have to look forward to for the rest of your life. Okay, there will be times when the emotion is hard to remember because you feel like killing him in his sleep. However, the good times outweigh the bad for the most part. Certainly, that is the case for your short-term feeling because life feels like you are floating on a cloud.

Soppy and sickly it may be, but it is the truth.

  1. I got engaged rather recently and totally feel the same way! Even when I knew that he would be the one forever (and vice versa) there's just a sense of security you feel when it becomes officially official!!
