Don't Leave Your Garden Unloved. Invest In A Dream Decking Area!

Your garden is as important as the inside of your house. That’s why you should make sure it looks as good as possible! Adding a porch, or decking to your garden is a fantastic way to get the most of the space! It’ll give you a place to sit when you’re enjoying the sun. It could offer the perfect backdrop for dinner parties outside! Getting the space installed isn’t enough, though. Like with anything in your home, you need to take steps to turn it into what you want! Here are a few touches that will make sure your outside area is as good as it can be.

FENCING

As well as offering protection, fencing can be a fantastic decorative feature. Consider installing deck railing onto your new decking. This will make sure no one falls off this raised area! It’ll also ensure your decking looks amazing. Take a little time to think about what fencing will look best. Are you aiming for a minimalist look or a country cottage feel? Choose from a metal railing or miniature wooden fencing. Whichever you opt for, a fence could be what you need to finish off your garden.

FLOWERS

Of course, no garden is complete without mention of flowers. As well as getting the flowers in your flowerbeds right, incorporate splashes of color on your decking area. Flower pots will be a fantastic addition. Think about flowers you have in your garden, and try to match your flowerpots with them! You could opt for small pots in the corners, or on a table. Or, you could go all out with large flower displays. You could even get flower boxes attached to the fencing you’ve installed. That way, flowers will border your decking area!

FURNITURE

It’s worth thinking about what furniture you would like in the area. If you’re going to get the most of your space, good furniture is essential. What you settle for depends on what you intend to use your decking area for. If you plan to eat outside, or host garden dinner parties, you’ll need to invest in a table and chairs. If you just want to enjoy the outdoors, you could settle for a sofa facing out onto your garden. You could go all out and buy something a little different to make the space your own. How does a hammock sound? Or, you could invest in some weather durable beanbags to relax on!

LIGHTING

To get the most of your decking area, install some lighting. That way, you can enjoy the outdoors at night time, too! You could get some proper floodlights installed into your decking area. These are sure to keep things bright, but they may not be best if you’re aiming for an ambient atmosphere. Or, you could install some fairy lights around your decking area. Invest in solar powered ones to save energy and ensure they’re on every night! These are sure to offer a dim light that’s perfect for relaxing evenings with friends!

All The Things You Want To Know About Women Health But Were Too Afraid To Ask

Let’s be honest, some things about women health can get a little embarrassing! Especially as they relate to some of our more private areas! But just like any other type of health, it can really help to stay informed about what to do if there is a problem or issue you want to sort out. So, read on to find out more.

Self checks

First of all, it is helpful to know how to check yourself for some of the most common diseases like breast cancer. It’s pretty simple, all you need to do is follow the guide here.

It’s vital that you know how to do this because breast cancer is very treatable when caught early. So you could potentially save your own life by performing these checks. If you are having trouble discerning whether there is an issue, you can also get a special glove that can help emphasizes any abnormalities can make them a lot easier to pick up.

You can also tell a lot by just looking at the breast, as pitting, fluid or some marks can be indicative of a problem that needs your doctor’s attention.

Weight Maintenance

Something also related to health that women, in particular, can struggle with is staying at a healthy weight. The problem isn't helped by the fact that there is so much pressure on a woman to be a certain size and weight these days. Add that to the hormonal changes that we experience every month, and as we get older, and it can seem like keeping your waist trim is an impossible task.

But it actually isn't. In fact, it is possible to maintain a healthy weight, although it will take a little work. Having a regular exercise routine can help a lot, as can watching what you eat.

Some women choose to attend slimming clubs to maintain their weight. While others, especially those suffering from PCOS, which can have a negative impact on your weight, choose to follow a low GI diet instead.

Contraception

Although there have been trials for the male contraceptive pill recently, it is still primarily a female issue.

Some ladies prefer to use the contraceptive pill, which works by fooling the body into thinking it is in the early stage of pregnancy. This means it much less likely you will become pregnant.

close-up-1853400_1280.jpg

Other women prefer to use things like a diaphragm, or a coil. A coil is a small device that is inserted into the body which makes it harder for an egg to become implanted in the womb. Although these are often only recommended if you are previously given birth as they can be quite painful to install and remove.

Menopause

The menopause is another health issue that woman may want to know a lot more about. The Menopause is a stage in a woman's life when her reproductive ability is slowly tailing off. This means the body no longer releases as many eggs, so periods become less frequent.

It is also associated with other effects such as hot flushes and mood swings. Although many people take supplements or hormone replacement therapy to help with this. If menopause is something you want to know more about, you can read more about what to expect here.

Books I Recommend You Read [January]

This site has affiliate links and sponsored content. Read my Disclosure Policy.

Only Love Can Break Your Heart by Ed Tarkington
This is a family drama that takes place in the 70's and involves some scandal and murder but it's one of those books you can read in a day or two because you don't want to put it down! I just couldn't wait to see what happened next!

The Unseen World by Liz Moore
This book is a mix of the past, present, and future and is told through the eyes of Ada, who is trying to figure out who her dad is.  It has some really cool twists and it's almost like a science fiction book in a way.  Definitely a must read!

Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma
So this book is actually for teens but it's a great read. It's full of tons of family drama and lots of twisted passion.  Basically, a brother and sister that are raising the rest of their siblings fall in love and it has some really deep consequences.

The Cellar by Natasha Preston
This is a great book because it deals with an exciting plot even though it's a bit upsetting at times.  It follows a girl who is abducted and kept in a cellar with 3 other girls.  A must read!

Such A Pretty Girl by Laura Wiess
This is a very short and easy read about a girl whose father is released early from prison and has to register as a sex offender.  She has to finally face her dark past of what he did to her and those in her life.

That Night by Chevy Stevens
This is like reading the script of a movie.  A girl and her boyfriend spend time in prison for a murder they didn't commit.  Once they are out it's as if the whole town is against them but they try to prove their innocence.

Those Girls by Chevy Stevens
Another great read by this author.  This story is about how 3 sisters overcome some horrific experiences and how it still comes back to haunt them in the end.  This one is kind of action packed as well.  I love this book and it made me fall in love with the author even more.

Miller's Valley by Anna Quindlen
This book is basically a family drama where a woman basically tells the story of her family's drama with losing their home to the government, an unwanted pregnancy, and a few more scandalous things.  I love the way this book was written and I love how easy it was to read.

The Best Things for Your Kitchen Refurb since Sliced Bread

Whether you’ve just moved into your first home, been there for twenty years or even been there for sixty years, there are always improvements that can be done. That’s not because your home isn’t up to scratch; no, quite the opposite actually: it means your house deserves to remain up to scratch and on trend. A place that is seemingly in a constant state of refurb is the kitchen. Maybe it’s because there are always new appliances brought out by companies: like state-of-the-art refrigerators and super-duper washing machines that can wash absolutely everything and anything (except any of the drunken mistakes you’ve ever made, unfortunately)? Whatever the reason, your kitchen has probably recently been, or is in need of, a refurb; here are just a few of the things that really should be in there if you’ve already done it, and should go in there if you're planning to, to make sure that you've made all the right moves when it comes to home improvements.

A Blender

One way to target your bad habit of missing meals, especially breakfast, is by choosing to lead a blended lifestyle. Not only does it mean having to spend less time doing food prep, saving your kitchen from any messiness, but once you have finished your blended concoction, you will more than likely be full. If blended at the right thickness, blended smoothies can be almost food like. If blended extremely thick it is possible to even ‘chew’ the smoothie and maybe even eat it with a spoon. This allows the digestive enzymes in the mouth to pre-initiate digestion, resulting in a feeling of fullness not too dissimilar to that you feel after a three-course meal, only done a lot faster and a lot easier. There is a lot of scientific proof that vouches for the intake of nutritious smoothies as well. If you have a green smoothie, for instance, you can easily get your five a day in, weight loss is easier (click here to see the facts), your immune system is boosted and you are provided with natural energy, rather than caffeine or sugars. Also, blending doesn’t have the impact on your blood sugar as other options do, such as juicing. Fibre is one great way to lower the glycemic index of a food, and juicing eliminates just about every shred of fibre, whilst blending doesn’t.

But, as previously mentioned, in regards to your kitchen (and that’s why you’re here, right?) blenders cut down on making your brand new kitchen messy as they produce little waste. Cleaning up after using a blender is unparalleled to any other type of food preparation as it won’t leave heaps and heaps of washing up to do, or won’t fill your room with that horrible dishwasher smell. Blenders such as the Vitamix 5200 prevent spills, which subsequently means the retaining of all the nutritious content you put in there in the first place as well as any averting any waste. Click here for an in depth review.

Undercabinet lighting

Daylight is great, but there is also a need for proper artificial lighting in a kitchen. Good-quality undercabinet lighting helps lighten and brighten a kitchen and, practically speaking, it provides crucial task lighting for meal prep and cleanup. It also serves as a good night light for all those times when you really fancy a mid-night snack.

Warming drawer

Most warming drawers range in size from 27 to 30 inches wide and 11 to 12 inches high, which means they tend to be sized to fit above or below a wall oven. They heat up quickly (a good thing, considering their name and purpose) because of their relatively small size. This means they are perfect for keeping food warm as you assemble other parts of the meal as well as warming up your plates before you serve dinner, meaning every dinner time in your house is now done to restaurant standards.

Stand-alone ice maker

Ice makers that come with refrigerator-freezers often have a small capacity, so if your household is planning on getting through a lot of ice in the summer that will be upon us before you know it (although it doesn’t exactly feel that way at the moment), you might want to invest in a stand-alone ice maker.

So, there you have it. Just four things that you can add to your kitchen that is newly refurbished, or awaiting a refurb, in order to make your experiences in there a lot easier, and to make your life easier.

Things I'm Loving Lately

This site has affiliate links and sponsored content. Read my Disclosure Policy.

This post is kind of a general update on all the awesome things in my life.

So even though I'm on a diet I still indulge in chocolate from time to time.  With James being gluten free I'm careful what products I let in my home.

This chocolate is from Whaddyalove Chocolate and Spruce 0132. They are made with cocoa beans sourced from a family owned chocolate farm in Ecuador.  And Garrett, who makes them knows that it's important to have a gluten free, vegan, and all natural product.  Each bar comes folded in an origami pattern that contains a sweet little note!

As for taste, it's super yummy and tastes better than any chocolate I've ever had before.  That's saying a lot - trust me!

I have been having some great hair days lately.   I do my own little version of a blow out (tutorial here) when I wash and dry my hair every other day but I swear by my round brushes as well. My Conair round brushes helps me pull my hair up and away and really get some body into it.

Oh and speaking of hair... this little thing is called a TubShroom and YOU need one, trust me! This little gem stops hair before it can down your drain and all you have to do is plug it into your drain hole! It prevents clogging and it's super easy to clean it.  Oh and it works great on animal hair too!

I started watching some new reality TV shows.  I'm so obsessed with Vanderpump Rules as it is so it's no surprise that now I am into Timber Creek Lodge and Summer House.

Oh and we picked out our wedding bands.  I can't show you guys until after we get married though so you'll have to wait till October!

Also I am still obsessed with LuLaRoe which I know sounds crazy because, really?? Me of all people? I explained it all in this post.

So that's what I'm up to. How about you?

Living In A New Place Could Put A Smile On Your Face

Sometimes, no matter how much you may love the people in your town or city, something just isn’t clicking. You might love your career, your house or your flat, but there could be just one little thing missing and you can’t quite put your finger on it. Maybe it’s one of the things I’ve mentioned, even though everything else is the perfect. Maybe it’s the city or the town in which you live in; perhaps the location itself just doesn’t excite or stimulate your mind anymore.

It’s so important to your mental health and wellbeing that you live somewhere in which you’re happy, and, as scary as it might be to consider moving, sometimes this can be exactly what you need in order to find a place to really call home. Sometimes moving is what you need in order to find a place in which you’re truly happy and relaxed. You can always go back to see your friends, or perhaps even keep your job, if you don’t move too far away and it’s still a commutable distance. Here are some reasons as to why living in a new place could light up your life and mind once more.

You can finally start being honest with yourself, but you don’t have to shout from the rooftops.
One piece of advice I always try to give people is to always be honest with themselves first, and then they’ll find it’s easier to be honest with other people. Of course, at the same time, it’s also okay to not be honest with others if you don’t want to admit why you’re moving to a new place. It might be a tentative and sensitive situation, and, where mental health is concerned, I don’t think it’s a moral grey area if you have to lie to save someone’s feelings.

You can start to let go of the past.
Perhaps your current home is wearing away at you because it holds bad memories. You might love your friends and family, but perhaps some form of incident, such as a broken heart, is making it hard for you to move on. Again, you don’t have to admit this to anyone; you only have to admit it to yourself. You’re creating a new home. There are Mover companies which will help you get set up, so you can throw out the old and bring in all the new stuff you want.

Moving is an adventure.
It can be tough at the start. The fear of loneliness, especially if you’re moving to a new place in which you wouldn’t know anybody, is usually what puts people off the idea in the first place. In the long run, it’ll be worth it. You’ll meet new people as you start a new career, or perhaps a new line of study, and you’ll realise that you can have the best of both worlds; you can still see your old friends and family, who you love, but you’ll no longer be trapped by living permanently in a place full of the old things you didn’t love.

Independence will make you stronger.
One of the best parts about moving away from everything is that you become stronger through adaptation to a new environment. You’re pulling away from everyone so that you can learn to be you by yourself. This will help you grow and find a new path in life. It’ll help your mind relax, as you realise that you’re responsible for you, so there’s no added stress of trying to meet the expectations of friends or family.

If it’s time to move away, don’t be scared. Embrace this window of opportunity to get out and live your life.

Dazzle Them With Your Smile! Why Your Dental Health Deserves Your Attention Too.

In our quest for a healthier life, it’s important we consider all aspects of health. It’s no good taking care of one problem if you let the rest go unchecked. Working out won’t do any good if you don’t take control of eating. Getting slim won’t do any good if you let your teeth run riot. Too often, we forget to consider dental care when getting out health under control. Your dental health is just as important as the state of your body. Having teeth that aren’t up to standard will leave you lacking confidence. It could even leave you in pain if things get bad! Do you hide your smile from the world? Then it’s time to get your mouth the way you want it! Here’s how.

DENTAL CARE ROUTINE

The way you treat your teeth will have a massive impact on their condition. The best thing you can do is get into a good dental care routine. Invest in a high-end toothbrush that cleans in the best way! If you have trouble getting to awkward places, get an electric brush designed to get to hard to reach places. If you struggle to brush for long enough, invest in a toothbrush with a timer. That way, you can ensure you’re brushing for as long as you should! You could get started straight away by setting the timer on your phone each time you clean! It’s important, too, that you get to grips with floss and mouthwash. Bear in mind that these should never act as alternatives to brushing. Nothing cleans your teeth so well as a good scrub!

GET TREATMENT

How many of us put off going to the dentist? The idea of needles and drills in our mouth is enough to put the majority of us off booking an appointment. Not to mention the fact that we have to pay for the privilege! Even so, it’s important you get the treatment you need. You should attend dental checks at least every six months to ensure everything is as it should be. If your dentist recommends treatment, don’t hesitate to get it done. That filling won’t be as bad as you think, and you’ll be glad you did it. Those braces won’t look as bad as you’re expecting. Besides, they’re a small price to pay for straight teeth! If the appearance puts you off that much, look into something like Invisalign. That way, you can get the treatment you need without the world being able to see!

REMEMBER TO SMILE

Once you’ve got your mouth looking the way you dreamed, make the most of it by smiling at every opportunity! There’s no point going to all that effort if you’re not going to show the results off to the world. If you’re used to hiding your teeth, it can be hard to get into the habit of showing them. Get used to jumping at the chance to grin for pictures. You’ve worked hard to achieve a mouth that dazzles!

Outfit of the Day - Mint - and Bloopers

Today's post is pretty damn funny and I wanted to share some funny blooper OOTD photos. So on a serious note I'm wearing a mint green LuLaRoe Julia dress with OS leggings.   But that's not what this post is about.

You see the other week I shared a photo of me in LuLaRoe on my personal Facebook page, (it's the outfit in this post)  noting that my neighbor's truck was in the background. As a joke I tagged my neighbor and said 'you're welcome for the free advertising."

This was his response.   It was epic and everyone was cracking up over it.

So the next day I went to take some photos outside and I noticed he had stuck a Grounds Guys sign in our yard.   I ran outside to post with it but I set my tripod and camera too far away so it wasn't picking up the signal from my remote.  I was began getting frustrated (as per usual) and had a few choice words to say.   Anyways, when I reviewed the photos I was cracking up because of how pissy my face looks when I'm trying to get the pictures to take.

Ah, I finally got it!
