5 Compliments You Can Give on National Compliment Day [January 24th]

That's right...January 24th is National Compliment Day so I wanted to take some time today to give you guys some inspiration so that you can compliment other people tomorrow.  It may sound silly but it's full of kindness and to be honest, we need more of that floating around in this world.  Between the tragedies, politics, and everyday bad news - some of us can get really down.  A compliment can really improve someones mood no matter how small it may be.

1. Thank Them.
Seriously, if it's someone you know and they have done anything for you (which I'm sure they have) then take a moment to thank them.  I sent a bouquet of Vera Wang Roses to my blogger bestie Monica and I thanked her for all the times she's listened to me vent about silly things over the years.  And yes, giving thanks is still a form of giving a compliment.

2. Comment on Their Appearance.
If you noticed someone in your office has been losing weight, tell them they are looking great these days.   It can be a great mood booster and can help motivate them to keep going.  Also, if someone got a new haircut, simply take note of it.  Too often we don't say the things on our mind.  Say them! If your cubemate's new hair color is gorgeous, tell her!

3. Make Note of Their Work Output
If someone puts in long hours, shovels snow for the neighbors, or always does a great job on their presentations - let them know!  It feels good to know you impress other people and that they take note of all you do.

4. Tell Them You A Grateful For Their Role In Your Life
People feel extremely valued when you tell them how grateful you are for them being in your life.  So whether it's a best friend, a boss, or a coworker that always has your back - let them know it!

5. Be Appreciative
When someone does something small for you make a HUGE DEAL of it.  If they hold the door while your hands are full instead of just saying "thanks" let them know that you really appreciate them doing it because most people don't take notice.

And don't forget that flowers brighten EVERYONE'S day so don't be afraid to send some JUST BECAUSE!
