As someone who has embraced living a more simple life overall, gifting is a part of life that most people can really benefit from simplifying whether they are the gift giver or the received. Here's some ideas for practical Valentine's Day gift ideas for you to give or to ask for.
Meals
A favorite meal can be planned as an actual gift. Whether it's a dinner out to a fancy favorite restaurant or planning a special dinner at home, don't be afraid to ask or give meals as gifts. We personally love crab legs and it's cheaper to buy and steam our own than get all you can eat legs anywhere around us so for us that's a really special way to celebrate.
Big Replacement Purchases
I may be overly practical but there are certain things I like to ask for as a gift. If I need a new fitness tracking watch, hair straightener, or ear buds I will ask for that as a gift. If your gift receiver is in need of upgrading something similar, consider that as a great gift idea that will get plenty of use.
A Special Event
Maybe it's a comedy show, a concert, or a local event like a wine festival, but whatever it is, consider it one of the greatest experience type gifts you can give or receive. Even if it's in the future, you can make a special print out of the tickets and put those in a gift box.
A Day Off
Whatever you or your partner do regularly that can be a pain, consider swapping roles. Cooking dinner for a week, doing the deep cleaning of your home for a day, or other big tasks are a great way to take the burden off someone else for a change.
Spa Time
A couples massage is a great way to enjoy time together and is considered a dual gift idea.
Sentimental Art or Photos
Consider a canvas print of a family photo as a gift idea for Valentine's Day. If you love art, a cool piece of wall art can be the perfect addition to any home with a cool story behind it when someone asks where you got it from.
Rare Treats
Sometimes we avoid buying certain things for ourself because it's not healthy or not useful. But when it comes time to buy gifts for someone else, a gift basket of our favorite snacks or candies is always appreciated. I knew someone that just loved reading magazines and their partner went to the drug store and bought several magazines and special edition publications and put them in a gift basket arrangement as a Valentine's Day gift.
These are just a few uber practical Valentine's Day gifts that can get your juices flowing so be creative with practicality in mind.
