Getting Down To Business

When it comes to your business there are many things you need to keep in mind to grow and prosper.  There are many tools and services out there that can help you grow your business so it's more efficient and successful.  Today's I'm going to talk about some ways to do the best for your business.

Utilize Tools
When it comes to tools for your business there are plenty to help manage your business as a whole like data governance framework or for growing your business like advertising strategies and marketing plans.  Use software to manage your data, automate as much as possible with email and social media, and get the word out there!

Quality
Whether it's information that you sell or an actual tangible good, the quality is the most important thing.  Invest seriously in your goods or products so that you create something that can really meet your customer's needs. If you use a website for your business (which you should), ensure it's always up to date and running smoothly.

Time management
You need to have a schedule and a routine when you have a business, especially if you work from home.  Plan out your days and weeks so you do your most work at your most productive times.  When working from the home, there are so many distractions and it can be hard to get into "work mode" so designate an area of your home as your office and make sure it's a space that doesn't have any disruptions or distractions.

Expense tracking
Your finances should always be tracked, but it's especially important to have a great system in place for expenses so you can claim that at tax time.  When it comes to income, use the same method for tracking, and at the end of each month or quarter, review to see how you're doing and hopefully note any profits you have made. Make sure that you’re keeping your business finances separate from any personal accounts with the best business bank that you can find. Otherwise, it can be easy to get mixed up between personal and business costs.

Networking
Networking is so important and the good news is it can be done in a variety of ways.  You can use social media to interact with customers and others in your field.  You can plan collaborations this way as well. Attend trainings and conferences relevant to your business so you can not only learn more but meet people in your field that can help you grow.   Networking can also be really fun because you can network over lunch or at a social event.

Celebrate victories
Anything you do well should be celebrated.  Give yourself and your business time off if you have the ability to do so.  Over holidays, take a break from work and reap the benefits of your hard earned income by taking a trip or just taking a staycation at home without checking your email!

Improve on failures
When you have weak practices in your business, work on them.  Focus your energy every day on becoming better. If you have employees, treat them as you would wish to be treated and check in with them regularly to ensure their needs are being met.
