It's Okay to Get Rid of Stuff

Today I am here to tell you that it's okay to stop holding onto everything regardless of the story behind it or where it came from.  You have the power and authority to decide what you keep in life and what you choose to let go.
I don't know who in the history of life made us think we are obligated to hold onto things but I'm here to tell you that WE DON'T HAVE TO!

Just because things are given to you from other people doesn't mean you have to assign that value to those items.  My grandmother always gave me things from her house as she tried to downsize with age.  I only ever used a few things.  I learned quickly that it was better to find new homes for those items with people that actually wanted them.  The only reason I took them was because I felt obligated to.

No one else's stuff has to become your burden either.  If you're cleaning out your parents' home, you don't have to take ANYTHING with you that you don't want.  In the end it's just stuff.   The memories attached to most items still remain.  And you can always take a photo of something in stead of taking the actual physical item.

It doesn't matter if something handed down to you used to be worth money or was kept in case it's worth money.  All that matter is what it's worth to you NOW and in the future.  If you don't want it in your home or in your possession, that's your choice!

You can give things away for free, you can find buyers, and you can simply donate it all in one big trip.  No one has to know and even if they ask about it, it was their choice to give the items to you.

We were taught to hoard things because maybe they'll be valuable someday but someday never ends up panning out and we end up sacrificing energy, time, money, and space for these items. LET IT ALL GO!
