My End of Summer To Do List

Tuesday, August 25, 2026

Well, summer is winding to a close as sad as that makes me but it’s inevitable and it also means that I will need to do my seasonal chores. Here are the things I have on my list to complete.

Clean Up Garden Beds and Yard

I will do a thorough weeding and cut and remove any annuals that are completely gone. I will also do a big harvest of any herbs and veggies that I can freeze or dry and preserve for the cold months. I prune shrubs that need it in the fall and I get everything cleaned up so that it’s ready for the cold weather and that also means it’s easier for me to manage in the spring!

Deep Clean Outdoor Furniture

I will hose things down and scrub them and for any cushions I’ll make sure they get a deep clean as well so they are in great shape to use again in Spring. I also like to a do a very thorough vacuum of the carpet in the screened in porch to get all the dirt, dust, and debris that’s built up over the warm months.

Deep Cleaning Inside

Since the season is changing it always reminds me to do some deep cleaning tasks like laundering the fabric shower curtain, replacing the plastic one, scrubbing high and low, and everything else in between.

Restock Pantries

I cook different food during different seasons so this is the time I always go through and stock up on staple ingredients or replace things that have expired. I do this with the main ingredients like flour, sugar, etc. This also triggers me to look for items that expire soon and use them by incorporating them into upcoming meal plans.

These are just some of the things I do. What are you doing to prepare for the end of summer and beginning of fall?
