Administrative positions never get the credit they should. People in these positions quite literally run an office. If you don't believe me just imagine if the clerical and admin workers in your office all quit on the same day with no warning. Would everything still function and flow as usual? I doubt it. I decided to write about the stuff no one tells you when it comes to being an admin in any field.

Nostalgia is a crazy thing. Sometimes all it takes is the mention of a word, the smell of a scent from your past, or a song that comes on the radio. Suddenly, you’re transported back to a time when you were a kid, so carefree and filled with joy. Memories are amazing and I get very nostalgic thinking about my childhood. At times it almost makes me sad because I miss it so much. I really did have a great childhood and so today I decided to put together some of my favorite memories.
Hearing the Ice Cream Truck
It was always the same. We’d be splashing in our neighbor’s pool or inside playing video games, and we’d all jerk to a stop because we’d hear what sounded like the ice cream truck. Then chaos broke out as all the neighbor kids rushed to get cash from their parents. My mom left a small amount of bills pinned to the bulletin board on the fridge so we always had some money to buy ice cream. Sometimes the neighborhood kids would have no money on them and they lived too far down the road, so my mom covered their ice cream too. We LOVED the ice cream truck. Sometimes we felt tortured because we couldn’t tell where he was but we knew he was coming. Then it was the GREAT choice of what awesome treat are you going to get? My favorite was the Choco Taco and the baseball mitt. Which by the way, if the baseball mitt was missing the gumball in the middle I always felt so bummed. We’d eat our ice cream and then resume our regularly scheduled carefree fun.
Playing in the Creek
We were blessed to move into a home when I was 6 that had a creek in our backyard and I don’t mean a little stream, I mean a full-blown creek. Every day as long as it was warm enough, my brother and I would spend our days out in the creek with any and all neighborhood kids. It was usually always shallow so we’d wade in ankle-deep and catch crayfish, minnows, mussels, and tadpoles. As we got older our neighbor would let us borrow their canoe and we would go out and wade through the middle of the creek. We also went tubing. We weren’t afraid of snapping turtles, snakes, and anything else that was in there. In fact, we swam under water when the water was high enough and I remember even opening my eyes underwater. Who does that? Ignorance was total bliss and I loved watching the eagles, hawks, ducks, geese, and other critters we could observe while out in the creek. I am so grateful to have had that experience my entire childhood.
Playing in the Snow
When it snowed we went ALL OUT. We made igloos and forts that we actually chilled in to keep warm. We wouldn’t come inside until it was dark out or we were soaked through and freezing. Then our mom would make us hot chocolate and we’d watch Nickelodeon and sip to stay warm. We had a golf course up the road and we even went up there and made igloos. Our neighbors across the street had a huge hill and they let us play on it anytime we wanted to. We would sled down it for as long as possible, making ramps to hit along the way. When the creek would freeze over completely we’d go walking on it and sometimes even ice skating.
Horseback Riding
My mom had me signed up for horseback riding lessons when I was 6 and then later when I was maybe 10. It was amazing to go every week or so and ride a horse. I loved it so much and was obsessed with horses. I still kind of am. I am so grateful that she gave me that experience as a child.
Grandma’s House
I loved going to my grandmother’s house on my mom’s side to explore in her backyard and play with the toys she had. She always had Price is Right on TV and she always had these big cinnamon pastries called Elephant Ears. I loved her house. I’d sneak upstairs and explore too. There were a few times I had sleepovers with her and I had such a blast. She passed away about a decade ago and I miss her dearly.
Disney Channel Original Movies
Man, me and my brother loved Disney Channel Original Movies and as corny as some of them were, we made inside jokes out of them by repeating random funny lines. To this day, if either of us says one, we both bust out laughing.
Mischief
For some reason it was super fun to sneak out of my house when I had a girlfriend sleep over and do nothing but simply explore the neighborhood. Sometimes we would sneak onto the golf course and we would just lay and look up at the stars. Sometimes the sprinklers came on and we would play in them before the overnight groundskeeper chased us off into the woodline in his golf cart.
So really, I could go on with sooo many but I would be writing ALL day!

What a fun month it's been so far!
At the beginning of August my cousin from Chicago came in town with his wife and 3 kids as well as my aunt. I haven't seen my cousin for like 20 years so it was awesome!! We had them over for burgers and then the next day we went to my one aunt's house to have a mini reunion!
Also we've done plenty of things around the house, as you may have seen the patio, porch makeover, and basement and garage floors.
It was also our birthday weekend! James' birthday is on the 10th and he turned 34 and mine is on the 13th and I turned 32!
He also surprised me by waxing my car!
It was a fun and low key time lately!

We also added a new canvas from our wedding day! The canvas is from Canvas On The Cheap and I love how it turned out. It was super easy to make on their website, too!

For his birthday, I kept up with our 3 year tradition of going to Dave & Jane's in Fairfield, PA to get all you can eat crab legs!
For my birthday James took me out to Carraba's.

Ohhhh man, so this weekend was interesting. Let's start with the important part. I got to see my blogger bestie Monica from Jersey Girl Texan Heart again. She lives in Jersey so every couple of months we meet up halfway at a restaurant. This time we chose one called Apollo Grill in Bethlehem. Now remember neither of us are from around there. So it's like a whole new world for us. Well of course it's so close to Christmas so traffic in the city was nuts but we both somehow found parking in a garage and met up and walked to the restaurant. Apparently it was some Christmas weekend thing in the city because Apollo was backed and it was only lunch time! So we asked if there were any seats and the girl showed us to 2 seats at the bar.
I ordered a salad which was okay but a little soggy.
For dessert I got chocolate peanut butter cake!
But I noticed we weren't getting served as quickly (maybe because we were at the bar but didn't order drinks? I don't know). The girl asked us if we needed forks with our dessert and I said yes, thank you. And she said You're welcome. Then walked away. No utensils. So we waited almost 5 minutes for her to notice us waving her down to get utensils. Then they seemed annoyed that we were still there (It was honestly an hour TOPS!) so we hurried up and got our check which was asked her to separate. When she brought it to us she had literally just divided it by 2. So even though one of us got more food, we both had to pay. No biggie because I don't mind but it's the principle of it. But yea, they seemed super annoyed with us still being there. So we got our stuff and left but not before taking a goofy selfie in the bathroom mirror (the first pic in this post) and giggling to each other saying "We are sooo not hyperlinking this place on our blog".
Now I know it's a busy time of year but we both drove over ninety minutes to get there so it would have been nice if we had a little bit better service.
After we left we walked back to the garage which was freezing cold and did our gift exchange there. Thanks a lot Apollo Grill, you suck! Yes I'm petty and bitter, lol! Anyways my gift from Monica was a Chihuahua mug and a Chihuahua ornament which was neatly wrapped inside the mug. The funny thing is my gift to Monica was a blanket and a mug with an ornament inside! We are seriously cut from the same cloth!
So after I got home I started to make a gingerbread house. Yea, I know, I don't have kids but hey I can still act like one right? This was my first time and man was I impatient so I kind of half-assed it.
At first I cared a lot and then I was like ehhh I'm gonna eat it this week anyways so it doesn't need to be perfect. So here's my gingerbread house from every angle.
Next year I think I'll make one much earlier in the month and I'll really put my all into it.
Do you guys make gingerbread houses? Do you use them just as decoration or do you tear them down to eat?
On a more fun note, I went and got a Powder Dip Manicure from a new nail spot in Camp Hill called Sally Nails. I'm feeling lazy so if you want to know what that kind of manicure is, GOOGLE IT! Just kidding, but I'll try to explain a little bit. So apparently these are better for your nails and last much longer! I'm hoping for 5 weeks. They cost a little more (This French manicure set was $40) and take maybe an extra 15-20 minutes to do. Oh and Sally Nails is an adorable place and they gave all their clients Christmas gifts. Inside my gift bag was a bottle of olive oil lotion. Smells so good!
Okay anyways...
So the powder dip thing...basically they paint your nail with this stuff then dip your finger into powder, shake it off and wait a couple minutes for it to dry. They do it several times repeating the process and then boom you're done. I seriously had a great time getting it done and I'm hoping it lasts a long time so stay tuned!

These shoes may not be practical but I'm still keeping them because they bring me joy!
And finally I planted some peas in the garden beds and cleaned them up a bit to get some of the leaves out.
It was actually in this cute little area that is basically a neighborhood of town homes but has it's own strip of businesses and restaurants. James really wanted to try their gluten free pasta.
Oh and here's my outfit! I will have a full outfit post with more shots in the next couple of weeks!
