I don't post often about beauty products because I normally stick to the same routine but recently I've switched that up because I've become simply obsessed with some amazing new products.  They are by Dynamic Innovations and not only do they come in beautiful packaging but the products themselves are one of a kind.  They are very fairly priced too!

I have so many exciting finds for you today.  But first let me explain this windy day when I took these photos.   As if it's not already difficult to set up a tripod in a spot in my backyard that gets ideal lighting, I had to also battle the winds.   It was so bad I literally almost lost my tripod to the wind.   But I did my best.   Anyways, I can't wait to show off this outfit!

A Girl's Guide to Staying Cool in the Summer Heat

Monday, July 9, 2018

I love sunshine.   I love decent weather.  But for some reason in the summer I struggle to enjoy being outside because I can't get past the heat and humidity and the discomfort of my thighs chafing and my hair frizzing.  If you're like me then you will enjoy today's post because I am giving you some tips on how to make the best of your time outdoors despite the heat and humidity.

Avoid Direct Sun between 10 am and 2 pm
The sun is at it's strongest between 10 and 2 so unless you want to get a tan, stay in the shade during those hours and definitely don't exert yourself with yard work or running during those times.  That's why you see people out doing yard work early in the morning in the summer and runners tend to be out more in the evening.

Wear Light Colored Clothing
White and pastels are your friend when it comes to beating the summer heat.  Dark colors attract the sun and the heat so you're more likely to heat up and get uncomfortable wearing black or dark blue than you are wearing light pink or white.  Don't believe me? Just think of how hot the black top is versus how hot the concrete sidewalk is when the sun's been beating down on it.

Wear Breathable Clothing
Opt for lower necklines, short or no sleeves, and cotton fabric when it comes to your tops.  For underwear, definitely go with cotton because it'll allow you to breathe "down there" and ladies we know how when you're sticky and miserable, EVERYTHING is uncomfortable.  Cotton lets your skin breathe and it won't feel like you're wearing a blanket when you're outside.

WATER!
I know it's cliché but it's true. Every time you sweat you lose water and you get closer to becoming dehydrated so drink water!  Drink it before, during, and after being outside.  Stay away from soda and sugary drinks.  Opt for flavored water instead. Water will replenish what you sweat out and it helps keep your skin nice and hydrated.

Go Light on the Makeup/Foundation
If you must wear makeup and you plan to be outside in the heat and sun, go light on the foundation.  Opt for powder instead as it's less likely to sweat off and/or clog your pores.  Also be lighter on the eyeshadow because remember, you will likely be dripping sweat and sweat makes makeup run and crease.  If you do plan to be outside for an extended period of time, consider bringing some of your cosmetics along so you can touch up in a bathroom.

Wear Your Hair Up
This is pretty much a no brainer.  Wearing your hair up in the summer heat benefits you in 2 ways.  First, the more hair you have laying against your neck and back, the more overheated you get because your skin can't breathe.  And second, when your neck and back and arms are sticky with sweat, your hair gets stuck to it and it just looks nasty.  So tie that hair back so you can still look good and feel comfortable.

Wear A Hat
Wearing a hat is super beneficial because it keeps the sun off your head where you can overheat from, it protects your scalp and hair from UV rays, and it can be a great fashion statement while covering up your frizzy hair.  It's also great for keeping the sun out of your face.

Sunglasses
Squinting is not only uncomfortable but it makes fine lines around your eye.  And sunlight can damage your vision anyways so there's really no excuse not to wear a pair of sunglasses.  Trust me, you'll be a lot more comfortable with them on and you won't feel so overwhelmed by the bright sun.

Anti Chafing Assistance
So I despise summer heat because when I try to walk around in a dress, skirt, or even shorts, my thighs rub no matter how fit I am.  There are numerous deodorants and thigh rubs you can get to help protect your skin but when I wear dresses and skirts I also wear lightweight shorts underneath, kind of like shapewear but they are thin and don't make me sweat.  It protects my thighs from rubbing against each other.

So ladies, what did I miss? What do you do to beat the summer heat or what tip is going to help you beat it this summer?

Tips for Staying Cool at Summer Weddings

Monday, June 18, 2018

Summer weddings are great! They're outside, there's great scenery for photos, and the lighting is always great even at night.  But if you're a guest to a summer wedding and you aren't prepared for the heat then you can really be miserable.

So today I have a few tips for you to follow when you're attending weddings this summer so you can stay cool, comfortable, and enjoy your time.

Wear Light Colors (but not white!)
If you wear a black dress or a dark blue dress you are going to regret it once the sun starts beating down on you. Dark colors attract the sunshine and you'll start to feel really overheated.  You can wear white if there's a pattern on it (floral is always nice for a wedding), or stick to pastel colors.  But seriously do NOT wear an all white dress or you are committing a major faux pas!

Go Sleeveless
If at all possible, opt for a dress that has very short sleeves or none at all.  If you're concerned about getting a chill later in the evening or if the reception is inside, just bring a cardigan along.

Hair Up
Since you may be sweating, your hairstyle can get ruined as it gets stuck to your neck and back so it's always a good idea to wear your hair up for an outdoor wedding especially in the hot months.  If you wear it down, bring along hair ties so you can put it up once you start dancing the night away.

Body Wipes and Mini Deodorant
You know that adorable little clutch you are planning to wear to the wedding? Well, load it up with some body wipes, powder to touch up your facial makeup, and a mini stick of deodorant so you can reapply in the bathroom and ensure you smell fresh all night long. Weddings and receptions can span an entire half a day so it's ALWAYS a good idea to freshen up halfway through.

Open Shoes
Most people complain that if their feet are hot, the rest of their body begins to overheat.  So wear open toed shoes or sandals.  Even flats and pumps that cover your toes can get hot and stuffy and start to stink.

How do you handle weddings in the summer heat?

4 Rules to Follow to Protect Your Hair in the Summer

Friday, June 15, 2018

Does summer make your hair dry and brittle? Does it fade your color and make your scalp uber oily?  Well, there are some rules about protecting your hair, especially in the summer, that you should definitely be following if you want your hair to look gorgeous and your color to stay vibrant.

I swear we are so high maintenance.  We can't even go swimming without worrying about effects on our hair but that's just how it is if you wanna take care of your hair and skin.   Not to mention the sweating and greasy scalp that comes from the really hot and humid days.  You want to shower every day and wash your hair, but that's not the best thing for it.  So what do you do? Well check out these rules!

Rule #1: AVOID CHLORINE
I know it would be so nice to be like a kid again and just dive headfirst into a pool on a horrifically hot and humid summer day, but unfortunately that's a no-no if you want to protect your hair.  Not only is chlorine an extremely harsh chemical when it comes to skin and hair, but if you have your hair colored it can really mess up the color.  If you love swimming, purchase a swim cap to cover your scalp completely.  If you

Rule #2: COVER UP
If you are going to be out in the sun for a long period of time, cover your head.  Whether it's a fashionable hat, a head scarf, or an umbrella, make sure you are protecting it from the direct rays of the sun. Not only does this prevent your hair color from fading in the sun but it also prevents a nasty sunburn on exposed parts of your scalp.

Rule #3: PROTECTIVE SPRAY
Whenever you heat style you should be using a heat protectant spray and whenever you plan to be in the sun you should consider a UV protecting spray product.  You can find them from a variety of brands at any beauty store or drug store.  They usually offer UV protection as well as nutrients and ingredients that your hair needs to be strong and also gives it a nice smell.

Rule #4: TIE IT BACK
If you're going to be in a pool, around salt water, or around dirt and mud, tie your hair back.  It will keep it from getting dirty and tangled and you won't have to wash it excessively during the summer which causes it to dry out.  Consider using dry shampoo to help cut back on grease and oil so you can longer in between washes.

What steps do you take to protect your hair in the summer?

6 Practical Facial Skincare Tips for Summer

Monday, June 11, 2018

Summer is here and while it's nice that you can do more things outside of the house, it can really take a toll on your skin.  Different seasons call for different skincare advice since you're battling different amounts of humidity and different activity.   So check out these 6 practical skincare tips for your face and keep that glowing face of yours beautiful and healthy all summer long.

#1: WEAR SUNSCREEN
I know it's the most commonly spouted bit of advice but there's a reason for that.  Not only can unprotected skin get burnt to a crisp, but it can increase your chance of skin cancer, wrinkles, and sun spots.  This doesn't mean you can't enjoy being outdoors, just be smart.  Even when I lay out for 15 minutes on a random Saturday, I am covered in sunscreen especially on my face.  Even if you have makeup on that says it has an SPF, it may not be enough. Be smart and just apply sunscreen! There's even special formulas that work with difficult skin on the face that prevents breakouts.

#2: HYDRATE
If you don't think drinking water is important for your face, just google what a dehydrated persons face looks like.  It's always important to drink several glasses of water each day especially if you're outside in the sun or doing physical activity that makes you sweat.  Remember that sweat is water leaving your body so you need to replenish it.  A hydrated face has a nice complexion, fewer breakouts, and a nice glow!

#3: WEAR A HAT
If you are going to be out in the blazing sun with little to no shade around you, consider wearing a sun hat.  You know those gorgeous big beige hats that are actually pretty fashionable? Well, not only will you look pretty but you'll protect your head from sunburn and sweating profusely.

#4: SUNGLASSES
Sunglasses are a fashionable way to prevent squinting and sun damage.  Both of those things can cause wrinkles and fine lines so why would you want to be walking around struggling to see?  Look for sunglasses that block out enough light that you can still drive safely without being bothered by reflections off of car windows around you. Again, this is another way to be fashionable and sun smart.

#5: WASH YOUR FACE MORE OFTEN
In the winter, washing your face too much can actually dry it out but in the summer you're sweating a lot more and your pores can get clogged.  If you notice your face is extra greasy and oily or that you're getting more breakouts, consider washing it twice a day.  For me, my skin is still dry in the morning so I just rinse it and blot it dry with a towel.  But in the evening after I remove my makeup with special oil-based remover wipes, I do a thorough cleansing and scrub all of the debris off my face so that it can't clog my pores and cause breakouts.

#6: MOISTURIZE
Some people think that since you sweat more in the summer you don't have to moisturize your face as much.  That's not true at all.  Especially if you've been in the sun, your skin needs to be hydrated with a good moisturizer that won't clog your pores.  Every time you use a cleanser on your face you should always moisturize afterwards since cleansers usually leave your skin dry.

What do you do in the summer to take extra good care of your face?

Realistic Essentials Every Female Needs in Her Bag

Friday, May 18, 2018

This site has affiliate links and sponsored content. Read my Disclosure Policy.

There are always posts out there about what you should carry in your bag but some of the items aren't really that useful or practical.  So today, in my usual style of getting straight to the point, I'm going to give you some advice on what bare bones essential items you need in your bag whether you're on a date, at your man's house, at a business dinner, or just out with friends.

Extra Underwear
Yep, I'm just jumping right to it now aren't I? Well let's be honest, our panties are so thin and tiny any more it shouldn't be a problem stuffing an extra pair in to the zipper pouch inside your bag.  This can come in handy in SO MANY situations, really! If you have bladder issues and you leak when you sneeze, boom - you won't have to be uncomfortable at your business dinner. Just change in the restroom as discreetly as possible.  Period come early? Boom! (Also carrying tampons is a no brainer). Having a fun night at your dude's house and things get exciting.... you have a clean pair for after!

Band-Aids
Not only is a Band-Aid essential when your shoes are rubbing you in the wrong spots but it can also come in handy if you do get a nasty cut or have any other kind of issue.  Also, hang nails are the worst and we have tendency to pick them until they get worse.  Throw a band aid on and resist the urge  until you get home and can properly deal with it.

Fashion Tape
Fashion tape has saved my life and sanity so many times it's not even funny.  For instance, once I threw on a top in a rush before I headed out with friends. Well, the top didn't fit as nicely as it used to and my bra kept poking out from the one side.  It was so annoying and uncomfortable and began to affect my mood. I slipped into the bathroom and used the tape to secure my top in the right spot so my bra no longer peeked out.  It's amazing how great the rest of the night was because I didn't have to be concerned anymore with what was showing! Fashion tape is AMAZING!!!! It's great as a temporary hem solution too!

DooDoo Juice
Don't laugh because I know you can ALL understand this in some way, shape, or form.  Let me set the scene -  you're at a house party and suddenly you have to go number 2.  Hey, you're only human.  So you get to the bathroom but you're freaking out because there's a line and they may definitely know what you did when you come out.  That's why DooDoo Juice exists.   Or maybe you are spending the night at a guy's house and then the next morning you wake up and uh-oh... you can't just run home right away to do your number 2, so just relax. That's again why DooDoo Juice exists.  It's a natural toilet odor spray that is guaranteed to neutralize even the most horrendous bathroom odors.  Each 2 ounce bottle gives you 100 uses.  All you do is spray the toilet bowl water with DooDooJuice before you use it.  See when you spray it, it creates a film over the water that traps the bad spells inside.  And when you splash during...well you know what... the film releases it's scent into the air.   This is SUCH a lifesaver!!!!  Ladies, seriously do NOT leave home without this! Plus, fifty cents from every bottle sold gets donated to Doo Good things in the community.  The little bottle is very discreet in your bag because it's lightweight and not a hassle to carry.  Plus if it's your first time ordering you can use the code FIRSTORDER to get 10% off.  And coming back for more? Use the code 10NEXT for 10% off your next order!

Tissues
So many people DON'T carry tissues in their car OR bag.  I don't know how they survive.  I can't tell you how often they come in handy in a variety of situations.  Random crying outburst in your car? Say no more.   Boogie stuck in an uncomfortable spot during your date? Slip into the bathroom and use a tissue.  Seriously ladies just buy a little travel pack and keep it stuffed into your handbag, it's not that hard!

So I hope today's post has helped give you solutions to common mishaps that happen when you're out and about in your everyday life.  Maybe next time you have to go number 2 or have a fashion mishap you'll think of me and this post!

Which of these items are you going to start carrying?

Some Things I'm Loving Lately for Spring

Tuesday, April 17, 2018

This site has affiliate links and sponsored content. Read my Disclosure Policy.

From time to time I like to post a roundup of some of the products and things I'm really into and why.   Now that it's Spring and the weather is nice it's really got me motivated to embrace it.  Before it was like a tease with warm weather in March one week and then snow the next!

So check out some of the stuff I'm lovin'!

New Sandals from Third Oak
Third Oak is a relatively new brand of footwear responsibly made in America.  Their styles are meant to empower you but also embrace a more eco-conscious way of life.  They are made from a vegan bio-based material that comes from soy!   And using a recyclable material like this allows the brand to operate a closed-loop recycling process that will leave this great planet safe for future generations!

The sad truth is that less than 1% of shoes are manufactured in the Unites States and even les than that are made responsibly.  But if you need even more of a reason to stock up on sandals from this brand, look no further.

They are super stylish and come in awesome neutral colors and metallic too! I have Scout Moss Gold and I wear them with EVERYTHING.

They have a really good tread on the bottom and are shaped just enough that they support my arches and are very comfortable for all-day wear.

I love that they are super stylish but very practical.   And at $30 a pair, they are very affordable for a long-lasting investment.

T-Tapp for Fitness and Health

So if you know me in my real life, you've likely heard me talking about fascia and how instead of traditional massages, I opt for fascia release sessions.  Well I'm in Heaven now because I discovered T-Tapp.  It's a fascia exercise program that involves specific movements designed to activate muscles and it helps lengthen and strengthen muscle and bones.  It's also beneficial with lowering blood sugar, balancing hormones, cinching in the core, reducing inflammation, detoxing, and losing 1 to 2 sizes in a single month with just 15 minutes of workouts 3-4 times a week.  The best part is that there's NO equipment necessary and you can do it in the comfort of your own home with a DVD or online instructions.

I got the Posture Power DVD and the online Digital More Than A Workout Seminar and the Brush instructions (for a skin brush).  The More Than A Workout Seminar DVD was awesome and very helpful at explaining how and why Teresa's T-Tapp Method of muscle and fascia activation is so effective.  It's just one set of repetitions!!!   Teresa teaches exercises which were easy to follow and very easy to do but I could tell they were still effective.  She also showed me how to increase muscle activation throughout the day no matter what I'm doing, whether I'm working on my computer or waiting in line at the grocery store.  It was a very motivational DVD!

The Posture Power Walk DVD was so helpful.  It gives you 2 indoor walking workouts and helps you create a T-Tapp Method anytime you walk so you can work towards your inch and weight loss wherever and whenever.  It explains how full fiber activation of different muscles can help maximize their development and how it can actually sculpt your body.  I mean I walk enough as it is so there's no excuse for me to not adapt this method to my everyday life!

The CRT Skin Tightening Body Brush is awesome!  It's a stiff all natural body brush made from plant fibers that allow the stimulation of skin to help with exfoliation, detoxification, and improving circulation.  Think of it as a way of exercising your skin.  You can use it wet or dry. It really helps tighten and tone skin.  It feels super good to use so it was so easy to incorporate into my weekly routine.

So did it work? Well, I think so because I definitely don't fill out my clothing as much which means I must have lost an inch or two.  I noticed my belly feels a lot flatter and I've definitely toned up.

Also another thing I'm loving is how the weather is finally getting nicer!   I'm venturing out into the screened in porch more and the pups are really enjoying laying around.   And of course my rat Charlotte loves sitting in my lap on the porch.  If you have a critter like this, just know that they do enjoy the outdoor air as long as they are safe and secure. Don't let them roam around and risk having them run off or eat something that could be poisonous.  Having treats nearby can help.

I just keep a little bag of Kaytee Pop-A-Rounds from Chewy handy. This way Charlotte doesn't feel the need to eat random things and try to run off.   Kaytee Pop-A-Rounds are made of all natural ingredients and have nutritious ingredients like peanuts and are sweetened with honey.  Treats like this are a great way to fight off boredom whether they're in their cage or hanging out with you. Plus these snacks come in a resealable bag and have no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives.

What are you loving lately?

5 Must Have Beauty Products for Spring

Wednesday, April 4, 2018

This site has affiliate links and sponsored content. Read my Disclosure Policy.

Spring means it's time for a refreshed outlook on life and that doesn't end when it comes to your beauty routine.  Since you'll be showing more skin and being more social, it's a good idea to refresh your beauty supplies so you are pampering yourself on a daily basis.  Here are 5 of my must have products this Spring!

Somaluxe Brightening + Collagen Peptide Serum || This is a super impressive product when it comes to collagen in my beauty routine.  The collagen peptides in this brightening serum help lighten dark spots and even skin tone.  It's packed with vitamins, amino acids, and natural antioxidants that work to repair, brighten, and resurface skin. At 31 years old, my skin has been through a lot and it's starting to show! After several weeks of using this I noticed that my complexion seemed to glow and my skin tone looked really even.  It even made I look lifted and more alive. It was easy to add to my current beauty routine since I just applied this serum to my face after washing and before moisturizing.

Somaluxe Rapid Facial Line Filler || This product is ideal around my eyes where I have fine lines and wrinkles starting to appear.  It uses hyaluronic acid to fill spheres and improve my skin's natural volume.   My wrinkles and fine lines actually have filled in and I see a big difference in the folds of my eyes which is where I was concerned.  I know everyone seems to want to get some type of surgery to take care of wrinkles but honestly, this is the ideal non-surgical alternative to fillers and pricy restylane treatments.

The really cool thing about both of the above products is that Somaluxe makes their products and ingredients 100% in the USA utilizing small batch production.  Their facility is in Oregon and it's actually powered using 80% wind energy and 15% solar power energy.  Seriously, they go out of their way to sustainably make these products and not destroy the land or work with suppliers that destroy the land.  Another great reason to add these 2 products to YOUR beauty routine.

TokyoMilk Perfume || I recently discovered TokyoMilk products thanks to a subscription box and now I'm hooked. Their scents are amazing. I loved their hand lotions so much that I wanted to get perfumes to match the scents. Their scents are light and airy and are a great size to keep in your handbag so you can reapply throughout the day.  Don't get me wrong - I love designer perfume but sometimes I get caught in a drooling dream world of using different scents are brands.

Farmacy Honey Drop Moisturizer || What a fun product.  First of all, I'm obsessed because it comes in this beautiful jar with a little metal scoop that sticks to the top of the jar when you're not using it thanks to a magnet.  It's SO LIGHTWEIGHT and I struggle to find moisturizers that don't clog my pores.  I actually wear this under my makeup and it makes my makeup last longer throughout the day and it doesn't make my skin look greasy.  I haven't had breakouts in so long now since I've been using this moisturizer so I know it's keeping my skin nice and hydrated.

MoroccanOil Glimmer Shine Finish || I am obsessed with that silky sleek look of my hair after I get it done at the salon so I am stoked that I finally found a product that gives me that look EVERY time I use it!  Not only that but the smell is AMAZING!!!! It only takes a few spritzes of this spray to get a nice silky sleek gloss to your hair after styling.  Sometimes I reapply it throughout the day and especially on days when I haven't washed my hair because it actually gets rid of that mousey look!

Which of these products are you most excited to add to your routine?

New Year || New Feet

Friday, January 26, 2018

This site has affiliate links and sponsored content. Read my Disclosure Policy.

So listen, I know it's a weird topic but I am very serious when it comes to taking care of my feet.  The reason I'm dedicating an entire post to feet is because your feet are SO IMPORTANT.   You use them ALL THE TIME except when you sleep.  They help you balance and get places and in order to return the favor we need to take better care of them.

When I was just 21 years old I was suffering from plantar fasciitis which came from wearing flip flops ALL THE TIME with no support.  Then when I slept I tensed and curled my feet up and it made the fascia tight.  It took a few doctor's appoinments, some anti-inflammatory medicine, and lots of stretching and foot massages till I was doing much better and now I stay on top of my foot health.   I'm telling you guys if you don't take care of your feet you will regret it.  This means you have to get good quality footwear that has proper arch support and doesn't pinch or cut your feet open.

But taking care of your feet doesn't end with what's underneath your socks.  Love your feet and show them off with beautiful shoes and amazing products that pamper your feet.  So yes, today's post is all about feet and what I do to pamper my own feet especially going into a new year! Some of the products I'm going to feature come from a company called Solemates, a company which I blogged about before here and here.

Solemates has a lot of products that come in handy for practically anything having to do with your feet and footwear.  For instance, when you slip into the grass because you're wearing stilettos? Yeah, well Solemates has little covers that go over the pointy part of your heels so you don't have to worry about that.  So anyways here are some things I'm doing lately for my feet and totally loving!

Protecting My Shoes from Nature
Ah the elements can be a terror when you live in a region that gets lots of rain and has snowy/icy winters.  The salt alone can destroy your gorgeous new boots so it's important to protect your shoes.

Solemates Protector Spray helps protect leather, suede, and fabric on your shoes from the elements.  I actually just keep it on my dresser and when I'm all dressed in the morning before I leave for work I spritz it on my shoes and finish my other household chores before going back to grab my shoes and head to work.  It goes on clear and sprays out really nice.   I'm all about making my shoes last as long as humanly possible since they are so pricey for good shoes with arch support.

Keeping My Feet and Footwear Fresh
So this is embarrassing but I'm going to talk about it because I know I'm not alone.  There are days my feet and my shoes STINK!   I hate it and it's so embarrassing but I can't help it.  I sit at my desk all day long at work wearing boots in the winter and it gets hot in those suckers. So it's no surprise that by the time I get home my feet don't smell like flowers and my shoes aren't so pleasant either.

Solemates Freshen Spray is an all natural anti-bacterial spray that dries quickly and removes odors from shoes.  It doesn't contain any harsh chemicals and I can spray it before I wear my shoes and even after I take them off. I love the baby powder scent.

Then I always make sure to let my shoes air out overnight.  They need to breathe! This spray is especially important for shoes that are worn without socks or just with tights like formal pumps and boat shoes.

Protect My Feet from My Shoes
Yes I actually have to protect my own feet from my shoes sometimes and I KNOW you can relate.  Nothing is more tragic than getting a new pair of shoes and then getting horrendous blisters the first few times you wear them.  I know it's a part of breaking them in but I just can't deal!

Solemates Blister Blocker is an anti-friction balm that's all natural and very effective.  It gives you 3x blister protection and goes on clear.  There's no scent and it lasts all day! Finally I don't have to suffer from chaffing, friction, and annoying rubbing.  And I don't end up waltzing around in band-aids for the next week. Blister Blocker is so cute and comes in the perfect size for travel and keeping in your bag.  I seriously don't know how I got this far in life without it.  Oh yea, that's right with band-aids.

So yea, that's how I do it.  You have to make taking care of your feet and footwear a major priority or else you'll never get to enjoy that feeling of walking through the office in your gorgeous new heels as you go confidently into your first meeting of the day.

What do you do for your feet?
