It’s not that I don’t enjoy cooking, it’s just that it can be a lot of work and can take a lot of time out of an already busy schedule especially on a weeknight. If you feel the same way, then consider some of these little hacks below to save you time when preparing meals.
Chop and Freeze
If you have fresh produce, you can chop and freeze it ahead of time and make your own frozen veggies. This is especially helpful if you grow your own vegetables and don’t want any to go to waste when you do your final harvest of the season.
Buy Frozen
I always have frozen veggies on hand like broccoli, onions, etc. This makes it much much easier to prepare meals and actually cuts back on waste because I only take what I need from the frozen bag.
Buy Steamers
Veggie steamer bags and rice steamer bags are SO convenient when I’m making dinner. I can just pop them in the microwave and serve them once they’re ready. Usually the only item I will have in the oven is whatever meat we are having for dinner.
Add Spices
Instead of adding things like garlic that’s fresh, you can always use bottled spices. I do this a lot with onion and garlic. I swear you can add it to anything!
Clean as You Go
I clean while I cook and when I’m done and just waiting for things to cook in the oven or microwave, before I leave the kitchen I make sure to wash the dishes and wipe down the counters and prep spaces I’ve just used. That way, the only thing I really have to clean after a meal are the plates we eat on and we just toss those in the dishwasher.
