Blogging

If you have many stories to tell then don’t keep these to yourself! You can become a blogger and share them with all of your social media followers. They are eager to follow your story and find out what is happening in your life, which may be far more interesting than anyone else’s. You are likely to get many followers if you are going through life experiences such as marriage breakdown, IVF treatment, or a medical condition that requires ongoing treatment. Find your domain and think of a suitable blog name before you launch it.

Singing

Singing is a wonderful activity that also gives your mental health the boost it might need. It doesn’t matter what you sing, you could find yourself doing it more often than just into your shower head. Check out your local area if you want to find a choir to join, they will sing a whole host of songs that you may or may not know already. If you don’t want to share your amazing voice with the world then you can always sing in the comfort of your own home. Singing is known to lower your stress levels which means you will naturally be happier and healthier.

Collecting

Do you have a small collection of items that you have been growing over time? If so, then why not carry this on. Many people will collect items such as stamps, Pokemon cards, or vintage crockery. Whatever it is you are collecting, be sure to search in charity shops as you never know what you might find. When you have established quite a substantial collection then you may decide to pass this on to another family member, or you might wish to sell it on. Some collections can be rather lucrative and can earn you a small fortune.

Gaming

Gaming can really help you relax and unwind after a long, hard day. There are many styles of gaming, and you might not have just one single preference. It might be that you enjoy playing online games such as blackjack, or multiplayer games with your friends like FIFA. There are also endless supplies of board games out there that you can get your hands on. These are wonderful to play with close friends and family, perhaps on special occasions like birthdays and christmas.

Gardening

Do you have a garden? If so, then how about you head out there and take up gardening as your new hobby. Gardening can be therapeutic and you can do so much with the outdoor space that you have available. You may have it on your to do list to start work on your garden, with a completed image in mind. Your garden might be your sanctuary, and if it isn’t, then it could be. Think about what you want the finished project to look like, maybe install some decking or a gazebo with some furniture. If you don’t have a garden then you don’t have to give up hope. You can join a community gardening crew who go around and help the elderly with their gardens, you can get so much joy and pride from doing something like this.

Fitness

Exercise is not only beneficial for your health, you can also take up exercise as a hobby to keep you busy and pass the time. The key to this working for you is finding an exercise or sport that you enjoy. This could be absolutely anything from yoga to swimming, and everything in between. You might want to go out for a run before or after work, or even hit the gym during your lunch break. If you aren’t keen on the idea of exercising in front of people then you could follow along to online workout videos.

Cooking

Get yourself in the kitchen and find your next hobby. If you enjoy playing with different recipes and flavors then cooking can be incredibly fun. It isn’t just cooking that can help you pass the time, it is also baking that can be done in the kitchen. While you don’t necessarily have to use recipe books, it can help to learn the ropes until you feel more confident throwing the ingredients in a pan. You can use social media to find new and interesting chefs or wannabe chefs, they can give you plenty of inspiration.

Painting

Another hobby that will keep you busy is painting. Did you always love art in school? If so, painting could be the hobby that you are just waiting to find. When it comes to painting, the world is quite literally your oyster. Painting could take you anywhere and everywhere, one country to the next. It isn’t just about what you wish to paint, but how you are going to paint it. Which paints you are going to use and whether you are going to paint directly on paper or onto canvas. There are so many options and choices when it comes to painting as a hobby, you never know if you are great at it then you could end up making money.

Photography

Lastly, if you love nothing more than taking pictures wherever you go then how about you take up photography as your new hobby. Photography gives you plenty of opportunities to take amazing pictures, both in your home country and around the world. Decide the type of photography you prefer, and if you need or want to invest in good quality equipment. If you enjoy taking close ups of people or nature then a handheld smartphone might not give you the quality you need. You can invest in a better camera, one that comes with extra lenses perhaps. If you don’t want to buy this brand new then you could shop around second hand stores or online market places.

We do hope you found this article incredibly helpful and now have more ideas on which hobbies can keep you busy. The last thing you want to do is be bored when you have some spare time, finding a hobby can always have a positive impact on your mental health.
