Staying healthy can be difficult, especially if your lifestyle is riddled with bad habits. Whether you are looking to lose weight, or maintain your weight after having the best coolsculpting session, healthy habits will be the backbone of your future progress. It doesn’t end when you have reached your weight loss goal, it is also important to maintain it, and look after your health. This is more about the life that you live, as it will have a knock-on effect on your physical health (and the longevity of life) as well as your mental health. The better your healthy habits, the longer, and happier your life will be.

Here are some top tips to help you stay healthy and maintain your weight loss.

Be active

Being active is one of the best ways to stay healthy. It doesn’t have to be hours in the gym (unless that is what you enjoy), but can be anything from yoga, walking, hiking, running, swimming, high-intensity interval training, aqua aerobics, barre, or pilates. As long as you are moving your body, you are being healthy. Exercise can help reduce stress and anxiety, boost your mental health and your mood, improve muscle strength, and is good for your heart health. If you have just had surgery, make sure you are cleared to exercise.

Spend time with people

Socializing has more benefits than people may think. Being social can help fight off feelings of loneliness and low mood, which significantly impact your health if experienced regularly. It is also a great way to reduce stress and anxiety, boost your mood and self-esteem, improve your cognitive skills, and much more. Spend time with friends or family, or join some local groups with people who have similar interests to you. If you struggle with this, you may consider a therapist, who you can confide in and help you to build your confidence.

Eat a well-balanced diet

Food is not only key to weight loss, but also in the way you think and feel. A good, well-balanced diet will consist of legumes, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, and lots of whole grains. This ensures your body gets a variety of nutrients and vitamins that fuel your body and give you energy, improve your gut health, and directly impact your mood. Food is also food for the brain, and you will feel a significant difference in health, and happiness when you are conscious about your food habits.

Get enough sleep

Your body uses the time you are asleep, to recover from the day and refuel. If you are not getting enough sleep, or perhaps suffer from restless or poor quality sleep, then you could be causing the stress, fatigue, and low moods you experience during the day. Sleep is key to being healthy, as well as feeling happy, losing weight, digesting your food properly, and many other parts of your life that you may not be aware of. Enough quality sleep will also lower your risk of developing health diseases, such as heart disease, high blood pressure, strokes, and diabetes.

Looking after your health is key to weight loss, as well as living a happier, longer life.

Start a Good Moments Jar

I have this little tradition I made up for myself about 5 years ago where I take a jar and make a label for it that says Good Moments Jar.  That entire year I write down on a small piece of paper anything good that happens and toss it in the jar.  My tradition is that on New Year's Eve at the end of the year, I sit down, dump out all my good moments, and read over them one by one. Here's why you should try out my little tradition!

Habits That Sabotage Good Family Health

It is safe to assume that every loving parent will love to raise a healthy family. According to the CDC, Americans now spend twice on healthcare as they used to, with employer-based insurance cover for families shooting above $20,000 a year as of 2019. That means the financial benefits of raising a healthy family are too significant to ignore. While most families will love to live as healthily as possible, some habits can sabotage this goal. So, if you’re planning to raise a healthy family this year, you might want to avoid the following habits.

Not going for regular health examinations

While there are loads you can do on your own to improve your health and that of your family, the last thing you want to do is ignore professional assistance. For many people, there’s absolutely no need to see healthcare professionals when they don’t feel there’s anything wrong with their bodies; but that is a huge mistake. A healthy family makes it a point to visit their healthcare providers regularly, so keep this in mind.

From doctors and dentists to clinical psychologists and other counselors, every health professional plays an essential role in promoting healthy life. Admittedly, it is almost impossible to visit every known healthcare specialist to examine specific areas of your body. However, taking your family for annual general health medical examinations should be the least goal. Regular checkups help identify potential health issues and offer quick remedies before they become a problem.

Ignoring health insurance cover

The stats show that as of 2020, about 28 million Americans did not have health insurance cover. And some research has shown that the uninsured usually tend to live sicker and die younger than those with insurance. That’s mostly because most uninsured people end up foregoing preventive healthcare and only seeking professional medical assistance at more advanced stages of their illness. And this, in turn, significantly reduces their chances of surviving those illnesses. Ensuring that your family gets the health insurance they need will help support any self-care efforts you’re already making at home.

However, that’s not all. Receiving prompt medical care is also crucial. Some people tend to procrastinate or ignore health symptoms even with insurance until they become serious. If booking appointments and waiting in line are your reasons for procrastinating a trip to the hospital, you can look for healthcare givers that offer more urgent care.

Living a sedentary lifestyle

While many families have been forced to spend more of their time at home, that should not be an excuse to encourage a sedentary lifestyle. It is easy to resort to playing video games, watching videos online, scrolling through several social media feeds, or watching movies to pass the hours. But a family that crouches behind the screen for too long will be doing their health a lot of damage. So, if you have your family at home most of the time, make it a point to exercise together or go out for regular walks.

4 Reasons You Are Struggling To Drift Off Each Night

Friday, January 28, 2022

Are you having trouble drifting off to sleep each night? This is a common occurrence and it is thought that around a third of the population suffers from some sort of insomnia. The world is such a busy place nowadays and there is always something going on that messes with your sleep. However, sleep is paramount to your health and wellbeing. If you are not getting the recommended eight hours each night then you can end up feeling tired, confused, and easily aggravated.

Here are four reasons you may not be able to drift off each night?

Stress

If you are highly stressed then your mind won’t be able to wind down in time for your bedtime. This is a problem as you won’t be getting good quality sleep or hitting the REM stage which is what the body needs to feel fresh and awake the next morning. Stress could be due to work or even home life, figuring out where it is coming from is the first step to solving your sleep problems.

Mattress

If your mattress is bad quality or old then this can severely impact your sleep. Your mattress needs to be replaced every eight years, however, the average is around ten years. The reason for this is that you would have slept on your mattress for more than 27,000 hours by the end of its life. Over time they can dip and this causes you to sleep at weird angles, causing you to wake up with regular aches and pains.

When shopping around for a new one make sure you do your research and get from a reputable seller. A mattress is something you don’t want to scrimp on as it is something that gets used over and over. You could use the Sleep Shop picks for firmer options if you are a side or front sleeper.

Sleep Habits

Your own sleep habits can impair your ability to sleep at night. If you come in from school or work and take a nap then this will shift your bedtime later and later. This can cause you to feel tired and restless the next day. The problem with this is you can end up getting into a vicious cycle of feeling tired and napping during the day. Try to avoid a nap in the afternoon so you can fit in eight hours of solid sleep at night.

Exercise

Exercise is a major thing that can keep you awake well past your bedtime. Unfortunately, if you exercise at night then the happy hormones serotonin and endorphins will be coursing around your body keeping you awake. It is best to exercise either in the morning or early evening. Never exercise just before bed as it will take your mind and body ages to wind back down. You could try going for a lovely casual stroll before bed, this will help you to relax and forget about all today’s problems.

We hope you found this article enjoyable to read and it helped you out with reasons you may not be sleeping as well as you’d hoped.

The Top 5 Regular Shed Maintenance Jobs You Should Do

Thursday, January 27, 2022

If you own a shed, then it's important to keep it in good condition by performing regular maintenance tasks. Not only will this help keep your shed looking nice and tidy, but it will also help preserve the longevity of the structure. This post will outline the top 5 regular maintenance jobs that you should do to keep your shed in great shape!

Treat The Wood

The first step in regular shed maintenance is to treat the wood. This can be done with a sealant or stain, and it's important to do this every few years in order to protect the wood from moisture and UV damage and rot. Start by sanding back the surface and then apply sealant. You can also paint the shed for added protection once the wood has been treated.

Repair Holes And Cracks

If you notice any holes or cracks in the shed, then it's important to repair them as soon as possible. Not only will this help keep the shed looking nice and tidy, but it will also prevent water from entering the structure and causing damage. Use a sealant or caulking to fix up any cracks or holes before they get bigger.

Check The Roof

The roof is one of the most important parts of a shed, and it's important to check it regularly for any damage. Look for signs of leaks, missing shingles, or other damage and repair as necessary. It's also a good idea to clear away any debris from the roof so that water can flow freely. If you have an unused shed and you have neglected the roof for a while, it may be a good idea to replace the entire roof. Without a solid roof, your shed will not function properly and it is prone to a lot of weather damage.

Check For Wasps

Sheds provide a perfect place for wasps to build their nests, and if you're not careful, they can become a real problem. Wasps can be dangerous and they can also damage the structure of your shed. If you notice any wasps around your shed, it's important to take action right away. You may need to call a pest control company to deal with them for you. You'll be able to tell if you have a wasps nest if you spot a lot of wasps around the area. They are usually hidden away in the ceiling in the corner. Make sure that you approach carefully if you suspect you may have a wasp nest in the shed.

Look For Rust and Mold

Rust and mold can be a big problem for sheds, and if they are not dealt with, they can cause a lot of damage. Rust can eat away at the metal parts of the shed and mold can grow on any surface, which can cause health problems and destroy the wood. Make sure to regularly check for rust and mold and take action as necessary. It's easy to deal with if you catch it early, but if you neglect the shed, it will only get worse.

Make sure that you perform these simple shed maintenance tasks on a regular basis to keep your shed in good condition.

How Much Coverage Do You Need?

When looking for home insurance, the first thing to consider is how much coverage you need. Your policy should provide enough protection to cover your property in the event of a loss. The amount of coverage you need will depend on the value of your home and its contents. Most policies have a limit of $500,000 or $750,000 for property damage, but you may need more if your home is worth a lot of money.

You should also consider liability coverage. This will protect you if someone is injured on your property and decides to sue you. The amount of liability coverage you choose should be based on how much risk you are comfortable with. If you have a lot of assets, you may want to choose a higher limit.

What Kind of Deductible Should You Choose?

When looking for home insurance, you also need to choose a deductible. This is the amount of money you will have to pay out-of-pocket before your insurance policy kicks in. The deductible you choose will depend on how much risk you’re comfortable with and your budget.

If you choose a high deductible, you can save your premiums. However, you will need to pay more out-of-pocket if you experience a loss. If you choose a low deductible, your premiums will be more expensive, but you won’t have to spend as much if something happens to your home.

How Can You Get the Best Rates

You can do a few things to get the best rates on your home insurance policy. The most important is to shop around and compare quotes from different insurers. You may also be able to save money by increasing your deductible or choosing a higher limit of coverage.

You can also save money on premiums by taking steps to reduce the risk of a loss. For example, you can install a security system, ensure your home is adequately insured, and keep your property in good condition.

What to Do if You Experience a Loss

If you experience a loss, there are a few things you need to do. First, make sure to report the loss to your insurance company as soon as possible. They will investigate the claim and let you know what steps to take next.

You may be required to provide proof of loss, which is a document that shows the amount of damage that was done. You will also need to give receipts for any repairs or replacements made.

Your insurance company may also require you to take steps to reduce the risk of future losses. This could include repairing damaged property, changing your home security system, or getting fire restoration services.

Insuring your home is a critical step in protecting yourself and your family. By following these tips, you can find the right policy for your needs and get the coverage you need at a price you can afford. So be sure to shop around and compare quotes today!

How To Give Your House The Best Chance Of Selling Quickly

Friday, January 21, 2022

When you put your house on the market, your number one goal is to sell it as quickly as possible. You don't want to be stuck in limbo for months on end, waiting for a buyer to come along. This blog post will discuss some tips that will help you give your house the best chance of selling quickly!

1) Price Your Home Correctly

One of the most important things you can do to sell your house quickly is to price it correctly. You don't want to overprice it, and you don't want to underprice it. If you price your home too high, potential buyers will be turned off and won't even bother looking at it. If you price your home too low, you may end up selling it for less than it's worth. To find the right price, consult with a real estate agent who will help you determine what the current market value is for your home.

When pricing your home, keep in mind that buyers are often very hesitant to make offers on homes that are priced above their budget. So if you set your price too high, you may end up with a lot of offers that are well below your asking price.

2) Stage Your Home

Staging your home properly is one of the fastest ways to sell your home. When potential buyers walk into a staged home, they will automatically have a positive impression of it. This is because staging makes your home look neat and tidy, and it eliminates any clutter or personal items that may be in the way.

If you're not sure how to stage your home on your own, there are plenty of resources available online. Or you can hire a professional stager to help you out. By staging your home properly, you'll make it more attractive to buyers, and you'll increase the chances of selling it quickly!

3) Make Repairs And Updates

One of the best things you can do to sell your home quickly is to make some repairs and updates. If your home is in need of some work, buyers will be less likely to buy it. So it's important to make repairs and updates before putting your house on the market.

Some basic repairs that you may want to consider include fixing cracks in the walls, repairing broken windows, and replacing any outdated or damaged fixtures. You may also want to update the paint job or install new flooring or countertops. By making these types of repairs and updates, you'll make your home look much nicer and more appealing to potential buyers.

4) Clean Your Home From Top To Bottom

When you're selling your house, it's important to make a good impression on potential buyers. And one of the best ways to do this is by cleaning your home from top to bottom. This means vacuuming and sweeping all the floors, dusting all the surfaces, and scrubbing all the bathrooms and kitchens.

If your home is cluttered or messy, potential buyers will be less likely to buy it. So it's important to declutter before putting your house on the market. You can start by getting rid of any unnecessary furniture or appliances and by storing away any excess belongings in boxes or storage units. By cleaning and decluttering your home, you'll make it look much nicer and more inviting to buyers.

In conclusion, if you're looking to sell your house quickly, follow these tips! By pricing it correctly, staging it properly, and making repairs and updates, you'll give your home the best chance of selling quickly!
