My DIY Manicure - Save Money & Time!

Monday, January 13, 2014

I used to get a professional manicure twice a month.  I say USED to because it didn't take me long to realize that not only was it time consuming, but it was quite costly, and if I just bought the items I needed myself I could do it on my own. So I did...AND I put together a tutorial for you!

You'll Need:
Polish
Towel
Bowl of warm water
Nail Files
Cuticle Scissors
Nail clippers
Cuticle Pushers

Step 1: Prep your nails
Remove all nail polish and wash your hands and fingers.

Step 2: Soften your fingernails

Soak your fingers in the warm water for 2 minutes so they are easy to work with.

Step 3: Cut, file, and push

File your nails so they are squared off.  Use the cuticle scissors to cut any rough edges around your nails.  Scoop and dig all the dirt and gunk out from underneath them.

Step 4: Pamper and Paint

I used a lotion mask on my hands, but you can just rub regular lotion into them.  I do this while I wait for the polish to dry.

Step 5: Decorate

I painted mine with 2 coats of paint, a nail sticker on each nail, and then a top coat!

Repeat on the other hand!

PS... the manicure tools I got were $5 from Walmart in a kit!

SinfulColors Holiday Collection Glitter and Tinsel

SinfulColors has done it again with their tinsel and glitter collection. Infused with sparkles, tinsel, and glitter these are available at Walgreens for $1.99.  Their tinsel nail polish is stunning and perfect for this time of year, while their Sheer Lustre Glitter Topcoat collection is ideal for finishing off any plain manicure!

I used the Glittery in Pink and Girls Best Friend on my fingers and toes from the Topcoat collection.  I was amazed at how quickly it dried and how gorgeous the glitter was!

The Silver Rainbows and Gold Tinsel was so cool!!   This is what I wore for the holidays and I was in love with the tinsel.  There are literally tiny pieces of tinsel inside.  They still stick perfectly and don't flake off your nails, so I definitely am impressed at the high quality of this polish!

Once again, I am pleased to add SinfulColors to my nail polish collection!

Tis the season for making EVERYTHING color coordinated when it comes to Christmas day, church services, office parties, cookie exchanges, and anything else you do that you wear a cute outfit for! And one of the best ways to look completely polished and ready for the Holidays is to have your nails painted with a holiday color!

SinfulColors has their holiday collection ready to go and the colors are just gorgeous! The Mirror Metallics Nail Polish Collection has seven sparkling shades that are so luxurious! They are infused with a bit of shimmer so they sparkle and shine for everyone to see! The collection is available for $1.99 each at Walgreens, exclusively!

I just love the seductive color scheme and how festively bold the colors are! I received Simply Silver, Purple Heart, Gold Medal, and Blue Steel. I love how quickly SinfulColors nail polish dries and how easy it is to paint smoothly. I love the vibrant blue and the royal purple. They were great for a darker ensemble when attending a holiday party. I love how they sparkled under the light. The Gold Medal is by far my fav! It is the perfect accent color for the fingertips! The silver was great for everyday wear so that I kept in a holiday mindset! I love these colors! Be sure to add them to your collection and show off your nail artwork and tag me on Twitter or Instagram!
