How Waking Up Early Can Be a Key to Success

Waking up early can make all the difference, especially if you're a natural early bird.  I used to love sleeping in but as I grew older I began to look forward to waking up early and now I look forward to going to bed at a decent time so I can wake up as early as possible.  Here are some ways that can be the key to success in many aspects of your overall life.

You can catch up on things before the rest of the world is awake.
You can complete little tasks like tidying your home, catching up on emails, and getting little to do list items done before the world wakes up and gives you more to do. Having that head start is a great feeling and it's also super motivating when the things you wanted to get done that day are already done and you have the rest of the day for whatever else comes your way.

Fit in some fitness.
Early morning is a great time to get exercise off your to do list.  When I go on early morning runs it feels amazing because I have so much more energy for the rest of the day and I feel so proud to get something so big done already.

Get some quit time.
You can enjoy the peace and quiet while the rest of the world is still sleeping.  Sometimes that gives us more time to meditate, journal, or just relax. Most of our days are filled with constant noise and stuff.  Enjoy the peace before the sun comes up and everyone else gets on your nerves.

Give yourself time to become alert.
Waking up in a rush and hurrying to start your day can make you feel frazzled and confused.  It's those times when we tend to forget the lunch we packed for our workday, the quick chore we needed to complete before leaving the house, or a bill you were supposed to pay that day.  Waking up early before you have to be anywhere gives you time to become alert and physically and mentally wake up so your brain is working better as you begin to head out for your day.

The world looks different in the morning.
I love a good sunset but let me tell you...enjoying your coffee while watching the sunrise out your window is pretty dang cool too.  Early morning walks and runs are often when I see deer, fox, and owls around my neighborhood. Plus there are way less people around!

Catch up on what you're behind on.
Whether it's a work project, a cleaning task, or something else, waking up early with lots of time to spare gives you a space that's carved out specifically to catch up on things you were already falling behind on.  Sometimes people prefer to stay up late and that's fine but for the early risers - this is the best time to do it.

So are you an early bird or a night owl?
