Daily routines are nice and I honestly live my life by them but there are days when there is so much going on that it’s stressful and rushed to fit in my daily routine and tasks. That’s when it’s helpful to simplify those tasks so it’s easier to do them whether it’s a slow day or a packed schedule.
Consolidate Tasks
If you do different types of laundry on different days, just combine things. I wash towels with my clothing. I wash my bedsheets when I do my furniture covers/pillow covers. Doing things at the same can reduce the amount of tedious individual tasks.
Set a Time Limit
Sometimes we can get lost in the tasks we’re doing so I always make sure I do things on a specific schedule. Cleaning tasks get a certain length of time designated for them before I sign on to work in the mornings. This gives me a deadline to get them done and not get distracted along the way.
Automate Tasks
If you have ways to automate things like using a robot vacuum, having scheduled backups running on your computer once a week, etc. this can come in handy because it practically eliminates you from having to do it yourself and waste that precious time.
Multitask
Multitasking isn’t always the best thing especially because it can leave you frazzled, but there are certain things that just feel right when you do them at the same time. This can be anything from calling your friend or family member to catch up while you dust or fold clothing. I sometimes catch up on emails while I catch up on my DVRed TV shows.
Get Rid of Tasks
There are things we do that we honestly don’t have to. Sometimes we just get into the habit of doing them. Evaluate all the things that go into your daily or weekly routine and ask yourself if there’s anything you can eliminate. Every few years my routine changes greatly when I evaluate what I do on a regular basis.
Hopefully these tips can help you simplify your daily routine and give you more free time to just exist.
