Exciting Announcements

Monday, January 11, 2016

First - I decided to do a revamp of my current logo and banner.  This blog has been around for almost 6 years and has transformed so much.  For the longest time I considered it an advice and fashion blog.  Realistically, it's a lifestyle blog. I cover a little bit of everything including fashion, beauty, pets, finances, organizing, relationships, life advice, and much much more!  So as you can see in the new tagline - Ask Away is now officially an advice and lifestyle blog!!! I also toned down the pink and switched to a more neutral gray! I'd like to thank my longtime designer Raphael so check him out here.

Next -I have big big news! I am writing a book! It will be all about getting your finances in order including budgeting, cash envelopes, debt pay down, savings, smart shopping and spending, and more.  This goes hand in hand with my next announcement which is more of a favor....

Finally - I have a huge favor to ask of you guys.  Well it's huge to me but it should literally only take you 30 seconds.  Could you PLEASE take this short, 3 question poll about books and reading?  It would really help me with my decisions on my book. How to Tidy Your Closet Using the KonMari Method

This site has affiliate links and sponsored content. Read my Disclosure Policy.

If you haven't seen my posts before, I'll briefly explain the KonMari Method.   I've done this twice so far to my closet and it's amazing.  The KonMari Method requires that you keep things that are useful and bring you joy.   It is highly recommended that you read the book but for those of you that refuse to read it or don't have the time - I figured I'd walk you through a way to clean out your closet using parts of the KonMari Method.

Paint Your Pet Event

Friday, January 8, 2016

I am so excited to show you guys what I did last weekend. So I've done a few paintings before through this paint studio near me called Paint & Create but this was my first time ever participating in the Paint Your Pet workshop.

Basically you have to submit a photo of your pet ahead of time and they use some software that projects the image so they can trace it onto canvas.  So when we came in and found our seats, our basic sketching was already done for us.

I am so proud of how mine came out! It wasn't nearly as difficult as I assumed it would be.  I just mixed colors together to create different shades and it all came together the more I kept going.

Have any of you ever done a pet painting event?

Why Everyone Is Obsessed With 'Making A Murderer'

Wednesday, January 6, 2016

I think it's insane that I'm writing this blog post after only having seen 3 episodes (I binge watched them Sunday night and by the time you read this I will have finished them all) but I finally understand why everyone is talking about the new Netflix series Making A Murderer.

To summarize, Making A Murderer is a series that covers the story of Steven Avery, a man who spends 18 years in prison for sexual assault and attempted murder and is later exonerated because DNA evidence finally shows it wasn't him.

Within 2 years, Avery is accused of the murder of Teresa Halbach and is sentenced to life in prison.  The series is actually filmed over 10 years and is basically a documentary that contains actual footage and interviews from the years the case was covered.

I won't give away any spoilers but I promise if you watch this series, you won't regret it.

What really draws viewers in is that everything is so cut and dry. There's so much evidence that actually doesn't make sense, and the fact that there is video footage of interviews and investigating that wasn't done properly just blows my mind.   I mean, if we can see this now, why couldn't it have went viral back then.   This is also the kind of series that you can NOT stop thinking about.

So I want to know - those of you that have seen it... WHAT DO YOU THINK?!?!?!

It's been quite a while since I published my posts about getting on a budget and my budget spreadsheets so I figured I'd do another post that basically sums it all up again.   It's a new year and a new chance for you to get everything organized so you can get out of debt, build up your savings, or achieve whatever financial goals you have.
