Tips for Working Out at Home

Working out at home is a great way to save money and time and fit it in wherever you can, but some people struggle with how to even start.  Here's some advice to get you motivated so you can begin working on your fitness!

Have a Designated Space
Whether you have a room you can use as a home gym, or just a quiet space, set it up so it's ready for you so that you don't have to deal with that when you're ready to start working out.  Make sure it's clean, has no distractions, and has what you'll need. If you have exercise bands and weights, keep them in a basket here.  Keep your yoga mat at the ready, and feel free to spruce up the space with whatever decor you choose.

Multitask
Certain things can be done at the same time.  Want to run on the treadmill while you catch up on your shows? Great! Use your phone to stream them or have your yoga mat set up in front of the TV.  If you can take a phone call while you exercise, go right ahead!

Use Videos
You can easily find plenty of instructional fitness videos on the computer so make sure you are able to keep your screen somewhere you can see while you workout.  If you have exercise print outs, hang them or tape them to the wall so you can stare at what's coming up next while you finish the current moves.

Get Dressed
If you are doing your workout in the beginning of the day, have your workout gear sitting out for you in the morning so you have no excuse not to put it on and get motivated.

Schedule Time
Can't find the time to exercise? Schedule it! Maybe you have some downtime during lunch that you can use to get in a quick run on the treadmill or you know it's a busy day tomorrow so you'll need to set your alarm early so you can do it first thing in the morning before starting your day.  Either way, schedule it because that makes it a priority task that you can't just blow off.

Keep Supplies Handy
Whether it's yoga mat wipes, a water bottle, a sweat towel, or a foam roller, keep all of those tools and supplies right where you're working out so you can easily get them and aren't hunting for them when you should be doing your cool down stretches.

Sneak In Exercise
Got done with a work from home video meeting early? Take a 15 minute break and lift weights! Fit your exercise in anytime you can.
