The Best Jobs You Can Have When You Love Animals

Thursday, June 9, 2022

If you really like animals, having a job that lets you spend more time with them must sound like a dream come true. The good news is that there are many jobs that will let you spend as much time as you want with your furry friends. You just need to figure out how to look for them. For example, are you looking for a job where you work with animals or one that gives you more time to spend with the animals you already have at home? We look at both choices so that you can decide for yourself which one is best.

Flexible Working

Finding a job with flexible hours could be a great way to care for an animal at home. Some animals are happy to be left alone, but others, especially dogs who need to be walked, need to interact with people throughout the day. If your job is flexible and you can pick your own hours, you will be able to be with them when you need to.

You can do this if you are self-employed and work on a freelance basis, and there is a lot you can do in this field. You could become a taxi or Uber driver and decide when to work based on your own needs. You could also become a substitute teacher, a driving instructor, or any of a number of other jobs.

Part-Time Working

Some people do not even want to consider the possibility of working for themselves because they believe it would involve too much risk, and they like the stability of having regular employment. They would much prefer to obtain a guaranteed income each month. In such a situation, working part-time can be a decent choice. That way, you can still be paid frequently, but you will also have more time at home to spend with your animals.

Working part-time is a fantastic alternative for people who don’t need a significant income, but if you do need to pay more expenses then this idea, despite its attraction, may not work well for you.

Work From Home

More and more companies have realized that it's a good idea to let their workers work from home. It saves them money because they don't have to pay for a big office, and the employees are happier and more productive when they can work from home, where they are more comfortable. Plus, they don't have to deal with the stress of a daily commute, and they often have a much better balance between work and life than if they had to go to an office every day.

It also means that people can have permanent full-time jobs and still take care of their pets at home. It becomes easy for you to take your dog for a walk during your lunch break. It's fun to talk to your cat while it's on your lap while you work. You can even use your breaks to learn more about your animals, including what it’s best to feed them and the answer to the question of why should you neuter your dog.

The Jobs Themselves

It's one thing to choose a job that lets you spend more time with your own pets, but if you really love animals, you might want to find a job that lets you work with them every day. Here are some examples of jobs for which you could apply.

Veterinarian

Becoming a veterinarian takes eight years of hard work and training, but if you love animals and want to care for them, this may be the best way to do that. Animals can't tell you when they're sick or hurt, so you have to be able to figure out what's going on.

Being a vet is also an emotional job, since not all animals that get hurt or sick will make it. So, you should be ready for this right from the start.

Veterinary Nurse

Some people aren't interested in going to school for a long time. Not everyone can afford this kind of education, and other individuals are more interested in doing practical things rather than reading. Consider becoming a veterinary assistant or nurse if this seems like you.

Dog Sitter

You probably know what a babysitter is, but have you ever heard of a dog sitter? They are very important to a lot of people, some of whom wouldn't be able to have a dog as a pet if they didn't get extra help.

Many people have no choice but to go to work, which means leaving their dog alone all day. A dog sitter will come in, feed the dog, play with it, take it for a walk, and bring it back home, ready for its owner to come back.

If the owner is going on vacation and doesn't want to put the dog in kennels, the job might be longer or even a live-in position.

Dog Trainer

Dogs can be trained, which is something that most other pets can't do. Because they can be dangerous and act in unpredictable ways, it's important to train a dog to be good and follow commands. If you know how to do this, you can make a lot of money and be very happy with your job.

You could run training classes for groups or work one-on-one with people, depending on your own preferences, skills, and what the people who hire you need.

Dog Groomer

To groom a dog, you can't just get some clippers and cut off the extra fur. There are a lot of things to think about, and many groomers work as apprentices to learn as much as they can. You will need to know, for example, the best cut for each breed and how to deal with animals that act badly. Once you know all of this important information and have had enough training, it will be easy for you to go out on your own.
