Ways to Spend a Rainy Day

Tuesday, May 30, 2023

This time of year it's so fun to be outside or even working from home on your porch or patio.  But there's always the rainy day that rolls around and puts a damper on your mood.  I used to dread rainy days and let them make me feel lazy and sluggish.  But now, I find ways to make the most of them by doing things that take advantage of not being able to go outside.  Here's some ways to spend a rainy day and still feel productive and satisfied.

Self Care Activities
A rainy day is a great excuse to stay inside and focus on inner happiness for yourself.  Spend time reading a book you've really wanted to make time for.  Binge watch a show you've fallen behind on.  Do a facial or a mani/pedi for yourself or go and get one done at a salon nearby.  There are plenty of reasons to prioritize self care but a rainy day makes it that much easier.

Clean
You know those cleaning tasks that you always put off like vacuuming under furniture, washing floors, cleaning out the fridge, and wiping down your walls?  Well, now's the time to do them.  Nothing's worse than being stuck indoors cleaning on a nice sunny day, so when it rains, take a look around your home and make an actual list of cleaning tasks, whether they're deep cleaning tasks or just simple things you've put off like washing bedsheets and refreshing throw pillows. This also lets you feel productive.

Organize and Purge
Make a list of all the random areas in your home that could use a good declutter and then get to work emptying closets, drawers, etc.  Purge excess and unneeded items to donate or throw away (or sell if you want to make a few bucks!).  Then organize everything as you put it back.  By the end of the day you'll be so proud of your hard work.

Catch Up on Important Tasks
Balancing your budget,  shopping for supplies for home projects, meal planning, and monthly calendar planing are great tasks that we often struggle to make time for.  A rainy day means you really don't have an excuse to try to knock some of these tasks off your longterm to do list.

These are just a few ways to make the most of a rainy day indoors.
