How To Celebrate Summer Solstice

Tuesday, June 23, 2026

June 21 was the Summer Solstice which means it was the longest amount of daylight over darkness.  To celebrate that and make the most of your summer here are some fun ideas. Read Outside
Sit outside with a good book or even a podcast or audiobook if that's your thing. Take advantage of how much light there is by staying outside as long as possible.  I practically live outside in the Summer months.

Dine Outside
Whether you go out to eat or have dinner at home, opt to eat outside on a patio or porch and enjoy the fresh air and extra long daylight hours.  There is something so refreshing about dining al fresco!

Plant Flowers
Refresh your garden beds and containers around your home with fresh flowers.  Getting outside and touching the dirt is actually therapeutic.  There are different types of flowers that thrive this time of year and bloom throughout the long days of Summer.

Take a Nature Walk
Just get out there and observe nature in all its glory by taking a hike, stroll, or jog through a park or nature area in your community.  Pay attention (stay off your phone) and you never know what you may find see like baby animals, elusive birds of prey, and beautiful blooms.

Get Creative Outdoors
Arts and crafts are fun but have you ever done them outside? It's invigorating and what's even better is when you can take items from outside to incorporate into your crafts.  Get creative, make it a family affair, or just keep to yourself and use it as time to decompress.

Exercise Outside
Whether you have a home gym or you leave the house to workout, consider doing outdoor exercise activities like walking, running, lifting weights, yoga, and more.  It can be fun to be out in the fresh air doing activities like that and it's great motivation to actually do them.

These are just a few simple ways to celebrate the longer days. What are you going to do to make the most of Summer?
