3 Ways to Prepare Your Wardrobe for Spring

Monday, March 17, 2014

The clocks are changed, the weather is warming up, and Spring is right around the corner.     It's not hard to get your wardrobe ready for this new season as long as you take these 3 easy steps.

1.  Purge Your Closet

I am a stickler for purging a closet and for good reason!  You will be able to make more room for new items and you can discover what old pieces you need to replace especially if they are worn out or don't fit anymore.

But "What can I do with my old tshirts?" you may ask. So here is my official answer... Make them into a quilt!   You can send your tshirts into Campus Quilt and they'll make them into a gorgeous blanket for you to use as room decor or for actually keeping yourself cozy and snug!

2. Choose Decor that Doubles as Storage

I love stylish storage solutions!  Put your makeup brushes or jewelry in decorative jars like I do! Oh and mine happen to be made in the USA!

Monica from Jars by Monica makes the most precious jars that you can even custom order and she offers such great prices on them!

Seriously these are a great way to make organizing more fun!

3.  Invest in Shoe Liners

Not only will shoe liners like the ones I use from SummerSox protect your shoes from sweat and dirt, but they can be reused so they actually help you save money.

I wear my Sperrys a lot and I won't dare leave the house without a pair of SummerSox inside!

It's a good idea to do this to all of your shoes BEFORE you start wearing them this Spring!

How I Decorate My Bedroom

Wednesday, February 26, 2014

So a lot of people ask how I organize my room.... I'm living back at my parents' for now so my space is limited.  I love being more of a minimalist but that can be really hard sometimes so I do my best.  I try to make it fun by adding pretty decorative items but not overdoing it.

On my dresser I keep my makeup brushes, some currently used perfumes, and some bracelets.  I use decorative canisters to display them all.

The deer head is from Target and I am obsessed with it! I use it to hang my bracelets as well!

Some of the room decor I have is things that completely go with my personality.  Pretty jars can double as storage (which I love to organize with!) so that's a win-win for me.  The jars are from Jars by Monica!
I like to stay very organized with my planner, which is a Filofax.  Obviously I have several so I like to keep them on display on my shelves.
When it comes to books, I embraced minimalism last year, so I only keep the ones I absolutely love. All others I try to just read a digital copy.  I like to display my books by category. I'm not finished organizing them yet but the one category I did finish is Buddhism themed books. And I decided to display them with my Buddha statue which I also use to store and display my mala meditation beads.

I also keep the makeup I use most often in a little acrylic drawer set on my dresser.

And there are my decorative jars again!

So what do you think?

Blogger BFF Dinner with Monica + My Custom Chihuahua Jar

Monday, February 17, 2014

So Sunday night I got to meet up with my Blogger BFF Monica.   I don't know if you remember her but I featured her and her blog Moda by Monika before.

I showed off some jars I got from her etsy shop Jars by Monica and I am in love with them.  I even got a Tiffanys one!

I met Monica at LuckyFabb on Day 2. I forget how we first started talking but we quickly learn we had many things in common.
- We both love cars
- We both love our fur babies
- We both wear clip in extensions
Me and Monica at LuckyFABB

We began chatting and ever since then we've learned that we have a lot more in common.

- We are both down to earth
- We both love Vodka & Cranberry drinks
- We are both independent
- We both have been through some insane struggles in our life but we both have survived and become greater people because of those events.

I've read many articles from other bloggers like I Wore Yoga Pants about finding your best friend in blog land.

So after months of chatting, we decided to meet up at a Restaurant called Camillo's in Kutztown, PA since it was about the half way point for us.  She's from New Jersey and I'm from Pennsylvania.

Our delicious drinks were Strawberry Shortcake Martinis!!   DELICIOUS!!

I got Stuffed Mushrooms as an appetizer and Lobster Ravioli as my entree.

I had an absolute blast with her.  We got to learn more about each other. We totally relate on so many different aspects in our lives and I feel like she's my long lost sister!   It's very crazy how people can just appear in your life when you least expect it.

I definitely consider her a blogger bestie and real life one too.  We talk almost every day and we totally don't have any awkward moments!

But I saved the best part of this for last. I have bought several jars from Monica from her shop because I absolutely love the detail, look, and quality she puts into them!   Well she showed up for dinner with a gift bag and inside was a little chihuahua stuffed beanie and a jar.

This was not just any jar.  Monica put four little chihuahuas on this Fur Mama jar, each made by hand with clay.   And they were each customized to look like my fur babies.  I could have cried I was so touched. This is the best most meaningful gift ever! The attention to detail is insane.

She got all the right marking on Rocky.

She even got Grace's pink nose!

Of course Pixie's tongue is sticking out!

And she got the speckles on Stella's nose!
I am so honored to have an awesome girl like Monica as a blogger bestie AND a real life bestie.  You'll be seeing lots more of her and my adventures on this blog!!

Do you have a blogger bestie?  How did you meet?
