Christmas Meet Up with My Blogger Bestie Monica of Jersey Girl Texan Heart

Thursday, December 18, 2014

Soooo on Sunday I met up with my blogger BFF Monica from Jersey Girl Texan Heart for the FIFTH time this year!! In case you missed anything from before, we've met up for dinner, twice actually, a vineyard, and an orchard!
We decided to meet up for dinner at Florence Italian Grill in Breinigsville, PA to do a cookie exchange and gift exchange.  Breinigsville is around the halfway point between my house in Harrisburg and Monica's home in New Jersey.

Just like a typical blogger would do, we both already scoped out a cute shed in the back of the parking lot so we sneakily ran over to takesome photos including some ugly face photos since we are always sending UGLY selfies to each other.

We each ordered 2 different drinks, they were delicious.  Oh, and the waitress we had was a doll. She was absolutely hilarious and so fun!

Monica made me some delicious fudge brownies with little candy cane bits sprinkles on top. DELISH!! And she got me the gorgeous leopard necklace in the photo and a Chihuahua ornament.
She also made these bracelets for me!!! You can get your own over at her etsy shop.

And something that meant A LOT to me was that she also got me this little dolphin keychain, to symbolize my support of saving whales and dolphins in captivity.

Soooo I can't wait to see her again in 2 months.   I always have the best week after I see Monica. We are definitely Soul Sisters!

Another Blogger Bestie Meet Up // Pinnacle Ridge Winery

Wednesday, August 6, 2014

If you haven't read my blogger bestie Monica's recap of our blogger meetup go do so now!

Every two months me and Monica meet up half way between our two cities.  It usually ends up being near Kutztown, PA.

This time it was at a winery where I had to hold up a shed...JK!   But it was at Pinnacle Ridge Winery.  We paid $5 to sample 6 different wines and YES I left with 2 bottles!
See how gorgeous it was? The red barn was perfect for photos.
We took lots of photos inside including some of each other taking photos of each other, ha!

There were beautiful flowers planted all around the property. They were perfect for photos!

There was also a friendly cat that wouldn't go away and it was perfect for photo bombing us!

One thing that was said to us by the woman inside pouring our wine was that we should always cherish our girlfriends and our girl time.  When we told her how we meet up every two months she told us to ALWAYS continue to do that.  We definitely will! Even if we both end up across the country from each other, once a year I will go to Monica and hopefully she can come to me.

Of course we took a photo of our cars together...Cuppy and Lonestar! This was outside of the restaurant we ate at... DeMarco's.  It was delicious and we got pizza and drinks.

I'm really glad we decided to do a wine tasting.  It was really fun and there was a great selection of wine.  The staff were very friendly too! They allowed us to take photos both inside and out.

Love this cute shed!

I really do cherish my girl time with my bestie.  It's nice to get away and not talk about anything besides what we are doing at the moment.  Talk about living in the now. No wonder I feel so refreshed after our meets!

And of course we like to let loose and be goofy.

I can't wait to show you the gifts she got me too! That will be in another post!!!!

Do you have a blogger bestie and do you guys meet up on a regular basis?

A Recap of My Blogger Meet Up with Monica of Jersey Girl Texan Heart

Thursday, June 12, 2014

Okay so a few months ago I had dinner with my blogger bff Monica and I was going through withdrawal waiting for our next one!

It finally came.  On Saturday, I drove to Camillo's Restaurant again to meet Monica.  This time we planned to take some photos and explore the area before having an early dinner.

Despite the warmer temperature we had a blast posing for some outfit photos.  Monica took some AMAZING photos with her Canon T3 which caused me to finally decide on the T3 as my next purchase.   I even took some of her!

We found an adorable little bridge and stream which made a great background!

After about 2 hours we picked a table outside on the patio of Camillo's so we could exchange gifts!

I got her a bunch of random goodies and she made me a Honda jar, an adorable frame, and she got me this amazing wall decor of a quote that means a lot to both of us.

I was thrilled to get my goodies. She's so thoughtful and created.  And she's super talented with her jars. I now have like 6 of them.  If you haven't seen her etsy shop (Jars by Monica) yet, then get the hell over there now!

Our dinner and drinks were delicious.

Mozzarella sticks and Calamari for appetizers as well as  Strawberry Shortcake Martinis!

Dinner was a pizza and crab bowtie pasta.

And we also had this other amazing drink, some sort of electric blue lemonade.  It seriously didn't even taste like alcohol which made it so easy to drink. DELICIOUS!

So anyways while we used to call each other blogger BFFs we now like to call each other sisters because we have so many things in common.  Not only do we look like we could be related, but we have both went through some similar experiences in our pasts, and we have a lot of the same interests and values!

It's so amazing to think that I wouldn't have met Monica had it not been for blogging.

Stay tuned for two Outfit posts featuring the photos the lovely Monica took!!

My 5 Best Tips for Other Bloggers

Friday, March 28, 2014

As a blogger, I often feel like there’s no quick and easy way to sum up what I do.   When I tell someone that I work full time and also run a blog, the usual response is “Oh that sounds fun!”   Don’t get me wrong… it is fun… but it’s also a lot of work and I often wonder if people think it’s as easy as typing something and hitting publish.

In reality, as a blogger you end up being a writer, editor, photographer, PR gal, social media pro, graphic designer, brand researcher, and much much more. You have to market yourself as a brand in all ways possible and that alone is a lot of work.

On any given day at my full time job, I can be seen responding to blog-related emails on my cell phone anytime I step away from my desk for a bathroom break.

After I get home, there’s usually a few packages at my door, so I have to open them, log them in, and if I have time I stage photos.   If I don’t have time, I have to make time very soon so I can plan any outfits for photos, edit the photos, write the blog post, format it, schedule it, plan and schedule social media shares, and let the company know about what’s going on.

So how do I do it all without losing my mind?

I know a lot of people out there  can teach you about SEO, Social Media, and more,  but I find that sometimes you just need to get a few tips to help you stay organized so you don’t become overwhelmed.

1.Use an Editorial Calendar

This is what you will use to schedule posts, track the progress of them, and allows you to schedule what days you need to take a posting break.   I use my calendar to plan everything and to give myself reminders for when I need to reach back out to a brand down the road.  Bring this with you everywhere.  I carry mine in my work bag and if I’m traveling I carry it in my regular handbag.

2. Keep Your Emails Organized

Use folders to sort and store different types of emails and leave your general inbox as clear as possible so it can act as a REAL inbox for you.  If it’s still sitting in there, it means you either need to file it or respond to it!   I have my GMAIL inbox all organized with folders including: Product Reviews DONE, Product Reviews (for open ones), Product Reviews MAYBE(follow up with them later), Brand Ambassador, Blogger Networks, PR Emails, Reading (for all of my newsletters).  Keeping an organized email inbox makes it MUCH easier when you need to find something.

3.Track Gifted Items on a Spreadsheet

Whenever you agree to feature a gifted item on your blog, you need to make sure you track when you receive it, whether you’ve scheduled it for a review or not, and if it’s even been posted.

I use an excel spreadsheet with the following columns: Company, Item, Price, Date sent, Date received, Date Posted, Giveaway? Y/N.

Everything is highlighted in yellow until it is scheduled for a review, then that row gets set back to white.  Once I post the review, I log the date and I change the highlighting to dark gray.  This really comes in handy when a company asks If you received their product and you really can’t remember!

4.Schedule the time you work on your Blog

Whether it’s all at once on a specific day, or a little bit here and there a few days a week, make sure you set time aside to work on your blog and don’t make any excuses.   I schedule Tuesday and Thursday nights for blogging and I always chip away at it when I can.

5. Don’t Post Every Day

You’ll exhaust yourself and your readers.   Set a day aside where nothing gets posted, and a good day for that is a Sunday because most people don’t do their normal routine of Internet stuff on Sundays OR if they do, it’s the day they catch up on a lot.  My days off are Sunday and Thursday. I put giant X’s on those days in my Editorial Calendar.

And don't forget to check out these other posts about making your comment section more user friendly and running better giveaways.  Oh and this fabulous post about tips for brands and bloggers working together

Blogger BFF Dinner with Monica + My Custom Chihuahua Jar

Monday, February 17, 2014

So Sunday night I got to meet up with my Blogger BFF Monica.   I don't know if you remember her but I featured her and her blog Moda by Monika before.

I showed off some jars I got from her etsy shop Jars by Monica and I am in love with them.  I even got a Tiffanys one!

I met Monica at LuckyFabb on Day 2. I forget how we first started talking but we quickly learn we had many things in common.
- We both love cars
- We both love our fur babies
- We both wear clip in extensions
Me and Monica at LuckyFABB

We began chatting and ever since then we've learned that we have a lot more in common.

- We are both down to earth
- We both love Vodka & Cranberry drinks
- We are both independent
- We both have been through some insane struggles in our life but we both have survived and become greater people because of those events.

I've read many articles from other bloggers like I Wore Yoga Pants about finding your best friend in blog land.

So after months of chatting, we decided to meet up at a Restaurant called Camillo's in Kutztown, PA since it was about the half way point for us.  She's from New Jersey and I'm from Pennsylvania.

Our delicious drinks were Strawberry Shortcake Martinis!!   DELICIOUS!!

I got Stuffed Mushrooms as an appetizer and Lobster Ravioli as my entree.

I had an absolute blast with her.  We got to learn more about each other. We totally relate on so many different aspects in our lives and I feel like she's my long lost sister!   It's very crazy how people can just appear in your life when you least expect it.

I definitely consider her a blogger bestie and real life one too.  We talk almost every day and we totally don't have any awkward moments!

But I saved the best part of this for last. I have bought several jars from Monica from her shop because I absolutely love the detail, look, and quality she puts into them!   Well she showed up for dinner with a gift bag and inside was a little chihuahua stuffed beanie and a jar.

This was not just any jar.  Monica put four little chihuahuas on this Fur Mama jar, each made by hand with clay.   And they were each customized to look like my fur babies.  I could have cried I was so touched. This is the best most meaningful gift ever! The attention to detail is insane.

She got all the right marking on Rocky.

She even got Grace's pink nose!

Of course Pixie's tongue is sticking out!

And she got the speckles on Stella's nose!
I am so honored to have an awesome girl like Monica as a blogger bestie AND a real life bestie.  You'll be seeing lots more of her and my adventures on this blog!!

Do you have a blogger bestie?  How did you meet?
