You will soooo thank me for this post, trust me. I used to be one of those people that thought I could never have a green thumb. Any plant I bought eventually died. I watered it, I tried to give it light. But no matter what else I did, it never thrived. The key is a little education and I'm going to give you that in this post. This is everything you need to know about houseplants and how to have a green thumb.

You go to the store and see some beautiful houseplants, so you buy some. You bring them home, forget what most of them are called, and just start doing things willy nilly. And then they start to die and you feel like a horrible plant parent. Well, have no fear because if you avoid doing these beginner mistakes, your chances of being a successful plant parent will go way up!

Houseplants can be super picky, at least for me. Over the last year though I've learned a lot and did a ton of research to figure out the rocket science (because apparently that's what it is) behind keeping houseplants alive. It really isn't rocket science when you know what you're doing, but too many of us don't. We arrive at a nursery, find a cute plant, and head home thinking we know what we're doing. So here are some foolproof tips to NOT kill your beloved houseplants.

I realized as I scrolled through Tik Tok that I wasn't the only person that became obsessed with houseplants during the lockdown this year. In fact, I always thought I could never have houseplants because my house didn't get enough light inside. But boy was I wrong. So without further ado, here are my plant babies!

For the longest time I've had fake houseplants thinking that it was less hassle but actually, they get dusty and don't look as bright and welcoming as the real thing. While I still have a few faux succulents, I have tried to embrace my green thumb despite the lack of natural light that comes into my home.
I needed low maintenance plants that don't need bright light but still look nice. So here are my green babies.
