Blueberries + 2015 // Oh The Possibilities...

Monday, January 5, 2015

I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council.  I received a stipend to facilitate my purchase for my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

When it comes to blueberries there are just so many awesome things I love about them.  Not only are they delicious, but they are beautiful, healthy, simple, and versatile!  Basically they are little blue dynamos that bring back the pleasure and ease of eating well.  The best part is, if you don't feel like cooking a recipe that requires them, you can just snack on them freely.

I think blueberries have an amazing taste and they even come off the branch that way.  You can enjoy their sweet taste by the handful.   Since I enjoy them so much, it's easy to incorporate them in my healthy eating New Year's resolutions.  It's a pretty small and simple goal that is easy to achieve.  I mean I am already working on staying more hydrated and watching portion control but another big thing I needed to work on was healthier snacking.  Instead of reaching for cookies or sweets when I have a craving, I am learning to reach for a handful of Blueberries!  And even when it's not summertime for them to be in season, we can get them from our friends in South America!  See how easy it is to use blueberries towards your New Year's healthy eating resolutions!?

I always said I avoided fresh stuff because it's so hard for me to consume everything in an ample amount of time so I love the fact that I can get frozen and freeze-dried blueberries!  Plus, they are great for my diet because a one cup serving of blueberries has just 80 calories in it and also has 3.6 grams of fiber which is uber important!  Plus, blueberries contribute vitamins and minerals like Vitamin C, K, and Manganese so there is a lot of nutritional benefits from consuming them.

The U.S. Highbush Blueberry council website has lots of tips on how to make eating blueberries a part of your everyday life as well as some recipes in which you can incorporate them.  I am totally going to win at my New Year's resolutions this year!

Actually, speaking of winning things, the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council is hosting a sweepstakes through which you can enter to win a trip for 2 to LA for the Little Changes Kitchen Challenge alongside Alison Sweeney! She's one of my favorite actresses/TV hosts!   And if you aren't the grand prize winner that's okay, because runners up may win one of four $500 Whole Foods or Lululemon gift cards for a refreshed pantry or a workout wardrobe.   What great ways to get fit and healthy this year! The sweepstakes opened on January 1, 2015 and closes February 16, 2015 so hurry up and enter here.  It's super simple!

Oh and be sure to check out the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter

Just think, you could not only live it up out in LA but you can still enter to win some ways to help make your resolutions happen this year!

Blueberries are just so easy to get and to eat.  I typically eat them as a quick snack to hold me over in between meals.  I like to eat them while I am working too because it's so easy to keep a little container of them in my fridge at work.  Then, when my afternoon sweet tooth craving hits, I just reach for the blueberries!

I also LOVE simple pairings of blueberries with other foods that I enjoy like yogurt, pancakes, or cereal.  If you are a fan of smoothies, I'm sure you would love to try a blueberry smoothie.

I love my evening snack of yogurt and blueberries.  It's delicious and satisfying.

So tell me, how would you incorporate blueberries into your everyday life?
