So I Have A Garden Now...

Wednesday, April 20, 2016

Yea who woulda thunk it?  It all started when I wanted a pepper plant or two because I got tired of buying the overpriced peppers from the store.   But somehow we spiraled from that into me buying a mini greenhouse and some grow lights (SHUTUP).  Then I decided it'd be nice to stop buying lettuce from the store because it's overpriced and goes bad too quickly if you don't use it right away.
So I planted some lettuce seeds in Jiffy pots and waited.

I swear it was like I had just created a baby or something. I woke up the one morning to find that green stuff had sprouted and I had this insane sense of pride.   And then it just went on from there.  I originally planned to do everything in containers.... but then this happened....

This is just the boxes but they will have dirt in them obviously so don't tell me I need to do that..I know! haha I am going to have yukon potatoes, onions, cucumbers, zucchini, lettuce, peppers, and who knows what else.  So why am I telling you this?

Because I know some of you love gardening so any advice is very much welcome!!!!!

  1. Oh fun!!! We started doing the container garden two years ago. We have so much fun with it!!! Last year in containers we did Green red orange and yellow peppers, carrots, green and yellow wax beans(are so fun we just eat them right off the plant), Peas(are so fun too just pick and eat!), we did cherry tomatoes(our little one loves to eat these off the plant all summer long), strawberries, blueberries(we did a jellybean blueberry that is a small one for containers), watermelon, cucumbers, and radishes! We also tried melon and 4 stalks of corn which did not work for us. I know you will have to much fun...and I am sure like us...keep adding to your garden! The radishes are fun...cause they only take 30 days to ripen...so you plant the seeds and pick in a month...and you can get at least 3 batches during the summer! I hope you will post updates on your garden! Will be anxious to see it grow!

  3. That is awesome! You go girl! I, unfortunately, cannot give any advice as I do not have a green thumb & tend to kill plants rather quickly. But I'll be excited to see how your garden grows. :)
