How to Create a Gallery Wall with FREE PRINTABLES

We've all been scrolling through Instagram when we come across a GORGEOUS gallery wall from our favorite home décor influencers.  And then you think, man how do they put one of those together?  It's  lot easier than you think, actually and today I'm going to walk you through how to do it.

I have a gallery wall in the office and it's full of all kinds of fun things so I'll use mine as an example.

Step 1: Gather Your Décor
A gallery wall can have frames, canvases, and other wall décor on it. It's never limited to just pictures in frames.  I personally love cool photos mixed with sayings and phrases.

DIY: Did you know you can make your own wall décor?  Below are free printables you can print in different sizes and then just put into a frame from the dollar store.  You can reuse frames you have collecting dust, go to the thrift store, or buy new nice ones.  Whatever you want to do, get creative and do what works best for you!

You can print things on your computer, use book pages, magazine pictures, or a collage you make, and even make a shadow box to hang!

I personally use dollar store frames because I'm cheap!

Step 2: Lay It Out
After you assemble your frames and décor items, you need to find a flat surface in your home, whether it's a table or the floor and lay everything out.  This is how you figure out what you want where.  Sometimes bigger décor pieces look better surrounded by smaller ones.  If you start hanging right away without planning, you may not like your arrangement and you've already made holes in the wall!  Make sure you take into consideration the size of the wall you have to work with and ensure things can be hung safely (use a stud finder!).

Step 3: Hang
This is the fun part because as you place your items on the wall you can see everything come together.

My gallery wall is in my office because I wasn't sure what else to put on the wall above my desk and I wanted some inspiring things to look at.  Some people put gallery walls in their hallways, entryways, stairways, or even the nook underneath the steps.  If you have an awkward blank wall, turn it into a gallery wall!
