My Festive (& Funny) Weekend

Tuesday, December 19, 2017

Ohhhh man, so this weekend was interesting. Let's start with the important part.  I got to see my blogger bestie Monica from Jersey Girl Texan Heart again.  She lives in Jersey so every couple of months we meet up halfway at a restaurant.  This time we chose one called Apollo Grill in Bethlehem.   Now remember neither of us are from around there.  So it's like a whole new world for us. Well of course it's so close to Christmas so traffic in the city was nuts but we both somehow found parking in a garage and met up and walked to the restaurant. Apparently it was some Christmas weekend thing in the city because Apollo was backed and it was only lunch time!  So we asked if there were any seats and the girl showed us to 2 seats at the bar.
I ordered a salad which was okay but a little soggy.
For dessert I got chocolate peanut butter cake!

But I noticed we weren't getting served as quickly (maybe because we were at the bar but didn't order drinks? I don't know).  The girl asked us if we needed forks with our dessert and I said yes, thank you.  And she said You're welcome.  Then walked away. No utensils.  So we waited almost 5 minutes for her to notice us waving her down to get utensils.  Then they seemed annoyed that we were still there (It was honestly an hour TOPS!) so we hurried up and got our check which was asked her to separate.  When she brought it to us she had literally just divided it by 2.  So even though one of us got more food, we both had to pay. No biggie because I don't mind but it's the principle of it.  But yea, they seemed super annoyed with us still being there. So we got our stuff and left but not before taking a goofy selfie in the bathroom mirror (the first pic in this post) and giggling to each other saying "We are sooo not hyperlinking this place on our blog".

Now I know it's a busy time of year but we both drove over ninety minutes to get there so it would have been nice if we had a little bit better service.

After we left we walked back to the garage which was freezing cold and did our gift exchange there. Thanks a lot Apollo Grill, you suck! Yes I'm petty and bitter, lol! Anyways my gift from Monica was a Chihuahua mug and a Chihuahua ornament which was neatly wrapped inside the mug.  The funny thing is my gift to Monica was a blanket and a mug with an ornament inside!  We are seriously cut from the same cloth!

So after I got home I started to make a gingerbread house.  Yea, I know, I don't have kids but hey I can still act like one right?   This was my first time and man was I impatient so I kind of half-assed it.

At first I cared a lot and then I was like ehhh I'm gonna eat it this week anyways so it doesn't need to be perfect.  So here's my gingerbread house from every angle.

Next year I think I'll make one much earlier in the month and I'll really put my all into it.

Do you guys make gingerbread houses? Do you use them just as decoration or do you tear them down to eat?

On a more fun note, I went and got a Powder Dip Manicure from a new nail spot in Camp Hill called Sally Nails. I'm feeling lazy so if you want to know what that kind of manicure is, GOOGLE IT! Just kidding, but I'll try to explain a little bit. So apparently these are better for your nails and last much longer!  I'm hoping for 5 weeks.  They cost a little more (This French manicure set was $40) and take maybe an extra 15-20 minutes to do.    Oh and Sally Nails is an adorable place and they gave all their clients Christmas gifts.  Inside my gift bag was a bottle of olive oil lotion. Smells so good!

Okay anyways...

So the powder dip thing...basically they paint your nail with this stuff then dip your finger into powder, shake it off and wait a couple minutes for it to dry.  They do it several times repeating the process and then boom you're done.  I seriously had a great time getting it done and I'm hoping it lasts a long time so stay tuned!

What did you guys do this weekend? I saw a lot of people baking Christmas Cookies so if you did, send me some!

Last weekend I got to see my blogger bestie Monica of Jersey Girl Texan Heart and exchange gifts!!!

I decided to dress comfy (for the drive which was 90 minutes) but still classy, so I threw on this sequin sweater from Maurices.

When it came to accessories I kept it light because I didn't want to take away from the pretty sequin detail of my sweater.  I decided to wear this Victoria Emerson Wrap Bracelet.  This bracelet is not only handmade but it's so gorgeous and light weight but I love that it makes a great chunky statement piece.  There are 3 loop options for sizing too. You can also get 20% off  on their site with the coupon code: askaway20

For my necklace, I chose this adorable Gold Arrow Necklace from Marrin Costello! It's like the perfect length and it's so lightweight. Since I wore a neutral color sweater, the gold went perfect with it!

I love my bestie because she's so smart. She knows what I love. She got me this gorgeous serving platter carousel because she knows we entertain a lot at our new house! I love this thing!!!!!! I took it out and kept spinning it when I got home.  She also got me another chihuahua ornament which is friggin awesome and she made that cute little deer out of wine corks!!!

We only got one picture together which is fine because I noticed the older I get the more I cherish time with people. Not only was it dark and cold outside so it would have been hard to do photos, but I was more excited to see her and talk with her than take photos!   We haven't seen each other since earlier in 2015.  With the chaos of Rocky's heart condition being discovered and moving and settling in, we totally fell off our normal routine of seeing each other every 2 months.  So I'll definitely see her again in February!

Do you have a blogger BFF? Do you meet up with them?

Every 2 months my bestie Monica, from Jersey Girl Texan Heart and I drive half way to meet each other for some outfit photos and dinner.

It was perfect weather so I loved that my outfit let me stay cool and still enjoy the breeze.   We also had some interesting audience members (people from in the restaurant) watching us as we changed.   We met up in Allentown at Sunset Grille. It was delicious and a good time!

Normally I get all dressed up but I decided to just wear some Capris this time. Keepin' it casual as always.

Monica got me an adorable gift that you will see soon in an outfit post!

So What I Wore:

Christmas Meet Up with My Blogger Bestie Monica of Jersey Girl Texan Heart

Thursday, December 18, 2014

Soooo on Sunday I met up with my blogger BFF Monica from Jersey Girl Texan Heart for the FIFTH time this year!! In case you missed anything from before, we've met up for dinner, twice actually, a vineyard, and an orchard!
We decided to meet up for dinner at Florence Italian Grill in Breinigsville, PA to do a cookie exchange and gift exchange.  Breinigsville is around the halfway point between my house in Harrisburg and Monica's home in New Jersey.

Just like a typical blogger would do, we both already scoped out a cute shed in the back of the parking lot so we sneakily ran over to takesome photos including some ugly face photos since we are always sending UGLY selfies to each other.

We each ordered 2 different drinks, they were delicious.  Oh, and the waitress we had was a doll. She was absolutely hilarious and so fun!

Monica made me some delicious fudge brownies with little candy cane bits sprinkles on top. DELISH!! And she got me the gorgeous leopard necklace in the photo and a Chihuahua ornament.
She also made these bracelets for me!!! You can get your own over at her etsy shop.

And something that meant A LOT to me was that she also got me this little dolphin keychain, to symbolize my support of saving whales and dolphins in captivity.

Soooo I can't wait to see her again in 2 months.   I always have the best week after I see Monica. We are definitely Soul Sisters!

Blogger Bestie Meetup // Grim's Orchard

Thursday, October 9, 2014

So my blogger bestie Monica from Jersey Girl, Texan Heart and I try to keep our friendship strong (outside of constantly texting each other) by meeting up in person every 2 months. In case you missed it, so far this year went to Dinner in February, Dinner and a photo sesh in June, and a Vineyard in August

So to keep with the Fall season, we decided to meet at Grim's Greenhouse which has an apple orchard, corn maze, and other fun activities during the Fall months.

So what did we do?

Ate delicious food // Can't go wrong with a cheese dog and cheese fries. So much cheese!

Tried an apple cider slushie // I never had one before so this was really cool!   I loved mine!

Got lost in a corn maze // Yup, that's right, in our late 20's we still couldn't figure out how to get through the frickin thing.   We did have a blast with our mini photoshoots whenever we came to a dead end.   Also, we slapped corn. Don't ask.

Took a hayride tour of the property // The hayride was a nice way to see the property in it's entirety without having to walk all over the place. We were kind of goofy and obnoxious on the ride so I apologize to anyone around us.  It's not everyday that I get to be in the company of someone that laughs at everything I laugh so I don't feel stupid. Seriously, some people looked so bored.  So glad I had my bestie with me so we could giggle and chit chat the whole time.

Took Selfies //But first...

Took photos of each other taking photos of each other// Need I say more?

Gift exchange // To celebrate Monica's birthday I gave her an early birthday gift!

How much do you LOVE our  bracelets?!?!?!?

Picked apples // We got to pick apples from the actual orchard! I got so many and all different kinds! It was a blast, except for the fact that some of them would fall on my toes and in Monica's face! Haha!!!

Our next meetup will be in December.  We are hoping to do a Christmas gift exchange and a cookie swap.  I'm so excited!

Do you have a blogger bestie? Do you meet up on a regular basis?
