Here's a little bit of background information about Himalayan Salt Lamps. These salts are hand chipped from the base of the Himalayan Mountains and they contain 84 different minerals! That in and of itself is pretty amazing. The 15 watt light bulb heats the salt and causes it to emit negative ions like the same ones found in the ocean, thunderstorms, and waterfalls. Negative ions help remove dust, pollen, dander, cigarette smoke, bacteria, and they offset positive ions generated by electronic devices such as computer monitors and TVs. Some people that have asthma, allergies, and other illnesses use salt lamps to help their situation. I love the idea that a salt lamp can cleanse the air naturally and look gorgeous at the same time.
So since the living room is the most commonly used room in our house we placed ours in the corner.
This Himalayan Salt Crystal Lamp is just 6-8 lbs but it's perfect as a first purchase. Even though it's small it still is big enough for ionization of a small bedroom. Since our home is small the living room is a great place for it since that's where we have all our eletronic devices. It is so beautiful when it glows and it certainly is a gorgeous piece of home decor! I have to say that I really feel more calm just by looking at it when it's lit up and I haven't been sneezing like I used to. Both me and James suffer from year round allergies and so do my doggies.
