Summer is here and while it's nice that you can do more things outside of the house, it can really take a toll on your skin.  Different seasons call for different skincare advice since you're battling different amounts of humidity and different activity.   So check out these 6 practical skincare tips for your face and keep that glowing face of yours beautiful and healthy all summer long.


#1: WEAR SUNSCREEN
I know it's the most commonly spouted bit of advice but there's a reason for that.  Not only can unprotected skin get burnt to a crisp, but it can increase your chance of skin cancer, wrinkles, and sun spots.  This doesn't mean you can't enjoy being outdoors, just be smart.  Even when I lay out for 15 minutes on a random Saturday, I am covered in sunscreen especially on my face.  Even if you have makeup on that says it has an SPF, it may not be enough. Be smart and just apply sunscreen! There's even special formulas that work with difficult skin on the face that prevents breakouts.


#2: HYDRATE
If you don't think drinking water is important for your face, just google what a dehydrated persons face looks like.  It's always important to drink several glasses of water each day especially if you're outside in the sun or doing physical activity that makes you sweat.  Remember that sweat is water leaving your body so you need to replenish it.  A hydrated face has a nice complexion, fewer breakouts, and a nice glow!


#3: WEAR A HAT
If you are going to be out in the blazing sun with little to no shade around you, consider wearing a sun hat.  You know those gorgeous big beige hats that are actually pretty fashionable? Well, not only will you look pretty but you'll protect your head from sunburn and sweating profusely. 


#4: SUNGLASSES
Sunglasses are a fashionable way to prevent squinting and sun damage.  Both of those things can cause wrinkles and fine lines so why would you want to be walking around struggling to see?  Look for sunglasses that block out enough light that you can still drive safely without being bothered by reflections off of car windows around you. Again, this is another way to be fashionable and sun smart.  


#5: WASH YOUR FACE MORE OFTEN
In the winter, washing your face too much can actually dry it out but in the summer you're sweating a lot more and your pores can get clogged.  If you notice your face is extra greasy and oily or that you're getting more breakouts, consider washing it twice a day.  For me, my skin is still dry in the morning so I just rinse it and blot it dry with a towel.  But in the evening after I remove my makeup with special oil-based remover wipes, I do a thorough cleansing and scrub all of the debris off my face so that it can't clog my pores and cause breakouts.


#6: MOISTURIZE
Some people think that since you sweat more in the summer you don't have to moisturize your face as much.  That's not true at all.  Especially if you've been in the sun, your skin needs to be hydrated with a good moisturizer that won't clog your pores.  Every time you use a cleanser on your face you should always moisturize afterwards since cleansers usually leave your skin dry.

Tips to Save Your Skin and Lips This Winter

I don't know about you but winter has been taking a toll on my skin.   I wanted to go over a few tips to help everyone else deal as well! 

1. Be Mindful of Soaps 
When you wash your hands make sure you are using a soap that moisturizes your skin rather than strips it of moisture.   Just read the labels!

2. Pamper Skin & Lips
I use Fleurs de Temps Body Lotion on my body after a shower.  It's full of nutrients and helps keep my skin super soft. It also soaks in quickly.  For my lips, I use the Mirabella Red Velvet Lip Pencil and I love how long it lasts and the fact that it doesn't dry out my skin. 

3. Bundle Up
When you have to be outside in the cold weather, cover your skin! Wear a scarf to protect your face and neck and always wear gloves!!!

Trying Out Some New Hair & Skin Products

I recently sampled some new skincare and haircare items from DermOrganic. DermOrganic products are formulated around naturally-derived ingredients and they replicate the elements that our hair and skin use inside to replenish, refresh, and maintain youthful glowing skin and hair on the outside.  Their whole thing is that less is more, so only finest most essential ingredients are necessary to give you better results.  I especially love the travel size samplers I got because they are perfect for travel! 

The skincare sampler contained Soapless Facial Cleanser, Facial Moisturizer, and Hand & Body Moisture Lotion.  The Hand & Body Moisture Lotion went on really smooth and absorbed right away.  It left my hands and body so soft and smooth. It didn't feel heavy like it was blocking my pores or anything and it's oil and fragrance free!  The Facial Cleanser was free of soap and wasn't abrasive.  Instead it was gentle and smooth but still strong enough that it could remove my makeup.  My skin felt so clean afterwards without feeling super tight and dehydrated.  And the Facial Moisturizer gave me soft, smooth skin that has minimal fine lines.  I love that it's oil and fragrance free. It didn't cause any break outs! 

The Hair Care Try-Me Sampler was awesome! I loved that Leave-In Treatment, it worked great!  The Masque Hair Repair was so cool! It was rice in rice amino acids that replace the keratin structure of your hair.  So it seals the cuticle, and restores resilience.  It left my hair so silky smooth and helped get rid of product build up.  It also came with a Daily Conditioning Shampoo which was full of Amino Acids and Essential Fatty Lipids which helps strengthen hair and rebuild it.  It  is also safe for color-treated hair like mine.  No wonder I love these products!

The Easiest Bit of Advice You Can Take

It seems like everyone in Hollywood these days has amazing skin thanks to products they get from their dermatologist or plastic surgeon's office.   Not all of us have the luxury of going there every other day to pick up what we need.  But now, Dermesse Skin Care has prescription and non-prescription strength skin care products online! It Irritates My Skin// Well that's because whatever product you normally use has harsh chemicals and ingredients in it.  Dermesse sunscreen contains aloe, vitamins, and antioxidants that your skin needs for nourishment.

I Don't  Burn// Okay, so?  You still are getting exposure to the sun which brings on premature aging and wrinkles!  Dermesse sunscreen has a high UV protection and it has wrinkle fighting peptides and antioxidants!

It Dries Out My Skin// Well Dermesse sunscreen won't do that. It has Vitamin A and E which will help give your skin some TLC.

I Wear Makeup// And that's perfect because you can apply this on cleansed skin, over your moisturizer, and before your makeup. I do it and I promise you it doesn't affect how your makeup stays on your skin!
