Relationships: Benefits of Exercise in a Relationship

Tuesday, May 1, 2012

Exercise is not only good for your physical well being but mentally, it can really help you unwind after a long day at work.  And when you and your partner have a workout routine, whether it be together or separate, you are both really benefitting your relationship.

Releasing Negative Energy
When you work out, you release negative thoughts and energy from your day.  They run through your mind as you do your workout.  Instead of having to unload on your partner and push your stress on them, you are getting them out yourself and they won't even be an issue by the time you are done.  Couples that have some sort of exercise routine, generally don't fight and bicker as often.

Better Self Esteem
Also, working out helps boost your self esteem.  Self esteem can be a huge problem in a relationship. If someone has low self esteem, they can bbecome suspicious and untrusting of parts of the relationship for almost no reason.   When both of you feel better about yourselves you can actually have less triggers for fights and it's easier to combat jealousy.  Why worry about the hottie in your husbands office when you are SOOOO in shape, right?!

Something To Discuss
Ever run into a lull where you have nothing to discuss at dinner? Now you have something, and it's something positive!  Your weight loss goals being reached, or maybe even your newest routine at the gym!

A Stronger Support System in Each Other
If you do decide to work out together, it can be very very very beneficial to your relationship because you are supporting each other with something so naturally, you feel more loved, and more taken care of, and more like you are on the same team, even though you are already right?

So basically, you can kill two birds with one stone when you exercise.  You can get a better body and a healthier relationship!

  2. Couldn't agree more with your topic on exercising. It definitely helps the relationship and more importantly, makes me feel better about myself. Too many people go throughout the day with not feeling accomplished and nothing raises spirits more than having a great workout.
