Deep Clean Day Guide

Everyone needs a good deep clean of their home.  I usually plan a deep clean day once a season.  So that's 4 times a year and the to do tasks don't really change.  This is always fun because afterwards I feel so accomplished and my house truly sparkles. Here is what to do on a deep clean day in your own home. Dust every surface high and low.
Start at the top, ceiling corners, the tops of shelving units, etc. and work your way down so the dust quite literally settles at the bottom.  Now is the time to get out the step stool to reach the places you can't normally see.

Vacuum corners and under furniture.
Move furniture to vacuum underneath it. Take your nozzle attachment and vacuum the corners of every room where they meet the ceiling. You'd be surprised the cobwebs that build up.  Make sure to vacuum inside closets also.

Wipe down baseboards.
This part is always a pain but it feels so good once it's done because I swear everything sparkles.

Clean wood surfaces.
Get out the wood cleaner and polish the furniture in every room.  Bonus points if you enjoy the scent left behind because I know I do.

Wash the walls.
That's right, you should be wiping down your walls regularly. I promise it makes a difference.

Purge food items.
Go through your fridge, freezer, and cupboards and check expiration dates and move anything that needs to be used up ASAP to the front so you can see it AND actually use it so it doesn't go to waste.

Clean glass.
Whether it's windows or mirrors, clean every glass area in your home.  Doing it all at one time when you have the energy is the best way to go. While you're at it, wipe the window sills, trust me!

Wash the floors UNDERNEATH furniture.
Even if you regularly wet mop your floors, make sure you also wash them underneath furniture.  The grime and dust that builds up is icky and I know my allergies are way better when I have cleaned every bit of floor.

Toilet, Baths, and Sinks need cleaned too.
Now is a great time to do a very deep scrub and clean of all the sinks, tubs, showers, and toilets in your home.  Get it all done in one go!

Wash the shower curtain.
If you have a fabric shower curtain, take it down and run it through your washing machine. Replace the plastic curtains completely since the soap scum can build up over time.

I'm sure you have other tasks for your own home, but these are ones that can apply to most everyone.
