Practical Gift Ideas for Christmas

Wednesday, December 3, 2025

I know how hard it can be to figure out what to get someone who wants nothing or someone who seems to already have everything.  That's why practical gifts are so important. They can actually be used by anyone.  So here are some practical gift ideas in case you're struggling with what to get people this year. Candles - because who can't use a nice candle especially in the Winter.

Gift Cards for Dining - what better gift than something gives the recipient a reason to go out for a delicious meal that they don't have to prepare or clean up after.

Books - If you know someone that enjoys reading, grab them some new books or books on topics you know they enjoy.

Cash - NO ONE will ever be disappointed with cash as a gift. You can creatively package it up to be opened as well.

Experiences - consider a gift certificate to an event or an experience that is right up their alley with their hobbies and interests.

A Photo - Consider gifting a canvas print or a beautifully framed printed photo of you with the recipient or of something special to them like their kids or pets.

Electronics - Without getting too expensive in the budget, you can give things like digital photo frames, a bluetooth speaker, electric kitchen gadgets, or even a tablet or e-reader.

Autographs - Hear me out - but getting creative with a recipients favorite show can be fun. Look on ebay for a signed autograph from an actor they love then frame it.

Memorabilia - If you know someone has a major interest in a comic, show, movie, or book consider memorabilia related to that. Most people don't buy this stuff for themselves so this can actually be a practical gift because you satisfy a "want" for them.

Adult Coloring Books - I promise these are always a great gift especially if they are funny.

Throw Blanket - No one can turn down a cozy throw blanket. Don't skimp on the quality though!

Wearables - Consider a scarf, hat, or gloves as a gift for someone if they live where it gets very cold in winter.

Baked Goods - If you are great at baking and the recipient loves your goodies, make them some!

Organizing Supplies - No one can turn down a new set of food storage containers whether it's takealong containers or it's to store food ingredients.

Paper and Pens - If you know someone makes notes for themselves often, gift them a stationary kit, sticky notes, and pretty pens and stickers.

Hopefully these spark some ideas for you as you shop your holiday gift list this year!
