Give Yourself The Gift Of Confidence This Christmas!

Thursday, December 13, 2018

For most Christmas is a time of great joy. It’s a time for giving, family, friendship, togetherness and love. However, there are many who will not be feeling either happy or merry this Christmas. There are some who will feel depressed beyond the remit of Seasonal Affective Disorder. There are many who will have experienced loss, breakups, arguments or other forms of emotional trauma over the holidays. Not to mention those for whom the season can bring back less than pleasant memories.

The holidays may be a bright and cheerful time for many, but they are also a cold, dark and bleak time (quite literally) for some. If you are in the latter group, it’s time to give yourself a special gift this Christmas. Don’t worry, you don’t need to go out Christmas shopping for this one… Just give yourself the gift of confidence. While this may seem like an impossible endeavor, a happier and more confident you is within your reach. Don’t wait for the new year to roll around. Make a start right now...
Dress bold, feel fierce! It’s hard to stay positive and feel confident when you’re dressed in grays, browns, blacks and dark greens. When we’re feeling less than confident, the colder months give us the perfect opportunity to build a wall of dark fabrics around ourselves and hide behind it.

While confidence comes from within, who’s to say that you can’t build it from the outside and work inwards? Inject a little color into your winter wardrobe. Wearing bold and bright colors not only helps you to chase the winter blues away, it affect the moods of people around us and as you turn heads and raise smiles you’ll feel the confidence grow inside.

Fight off those nasty coldsIt’s hard to be confident with a headache, sore throat, runny nose and a pressing urge to crawl in bed and never get out. It’s up to you to give your immune system a fighting chance against the cold and flu viruses that plague us around this time of year. Ring round some air conditioning companies to see if someone can give your unit a service. Poorly maintained AC units are extremely prone to harmful bacteria around this time of year. Needless to say you should also make sure that your diet is loaded with vitamin rich veggies, healthy fats and lean proteins to help you to combat those colds.

Get skin that glows like a fairy light
Many people find that healthy, glowing skin is a great path to true confidence. And while the weather may be actively working against us, it can be achieved. Add some vitamin enriched goodies to your beauty regimen. Remember that your skin can still get damaged by the sun even in cold weather so keeping your skin well protected and hydrated is a must. Be careful not to over-wash your face at this time of year as it can exacerbate dryness. Make sure you drink plenty of water as this can help your blood to transport more nutrients and oxygen to your skin… It’ll even give your immune system a bump, too!

Soon your skin will out-shine the fairy lights on your Christmas tree.

  1. I'm so fortunate I'm not affected by SAD, although both of my daughters have it to some extent.
