4 Ways To Look After Your Health After Lockdown

Friday, April 2, 2021

If you are counting down the days to the end of lockdown, you are not alone. There are so many things that you might be planning on doing and people you want to see, and it might feel as though it just can’t come soon enough. However, one of the benefits of lockdown is that many of us have actually been taking better care of our health than normal. If you are worried that you might fall into some old bad habits once things open up again, take a look at the following advice. Here are four ways you can continue to care for your health post-lockdown.

Take It Easy At Gigs

Although it might be tempting to get straight back into the partying, it’s probably best to take it easy and allow yourself to gently get back into it instead. At some point relatively soon you will probably receive an invitation to go out to a concert or a club. Be aware that, after all that time indoors, your hearing is going to struggle with the sudden influx of noise that this will bring. It’s best to use some ear protection for concerts, at least at the beginning - and watch your alcohol intake too!

Pace Yourself

If you are worried about the prospect of having to suddenly spend more time in social settings again, this is a very natural fear, and one that a lot of people are feeling right now. If you are not careful, going out all the time suddenly could actually have a negative impact on your mental health, especially if you are someone who needs to recharge alone at home. So pace yourself: only say yes to every other invitation, or give yourself an allotted time off between events. There is no rule that says you are obliged to go to everything you are invited to.

Take Another Look At The Diet

Whatever might have happened with your diet over the past year, chances are it has not been the healthiest you’ve ever been. Post-lockdown will be a great time to reappraise your diet, take a look at what you might want to get rid of and what might need to be brought on board again. You might even want to celebrate lockdown ending by having three months of dieting, or making a point of getting your veg in every day from now on. However you do it, diet is one of the most important things of all.

Go For A Run

If you have been exercising at home all this time, you might well be starting to genuinely miss going for a run in the park. This is a great way to get your exercise and get some fresh air, so you should really think about doing this once things start to open up again and you feel safer to do so. Two runs a week should be all most people need to do to feel as though they are taking care of their health.
