How To Use Google To Your Advantage

Tuesday, February 15, 2022

Google is one of the most useful tools out there when it comes to the internet and building a business and a brand. If you have a Google account, you can do most of the things that you need to do to have your own successful business or simply to have more knowledge in general; it really just takes a little knowledge, and you can use Google to your advantage at every turn. Here are some examples of how valuable Google really can be.

Site Specific Search

Sometimes we’ll see and read articles online that are particularly informative or useful. Sometimes they might be exactly what we need to form this opinion or that idea. Yet we may not know that at the time of reading; the need for the website or article might come later. If that’s the case, we may not have the URL of the website, so when we want it again, we don’t exactly know where to look.

When that happens, it can take a long time to find the article again, if we ever do. If, however, you know the name of the site you originally read the article on, Google makes finding it again a lot easier. Simply type your query followed by ‘site:www.thewebsite.com’ (if you were searching for an article about parking on Forbes, for example, you would type ‘parking site:www.forbes.com’). This narrows down the search and makes things a lot quicker.

Definitions

No one wants to feel uneducated in front of others, especially when you are defending someone in a case. That’s where Google can help; if you’re not sure of the meaning of a word, you can find out exactly what the definition is through Google. Simply type ‘define’ followed by the word you want to know the meaning of (for example, ‘define:suave’). Hit search, and the result will be instant. This can make a written document or even a speech much more powerful because you’ll have the confidence to use precisely the right words.

Calculator

It’s true that some people have a highly mathematical brain and can crunch numbers in their heads with ease, but these people are few and far between, and it’s much more likely that you need help with math when it comes to complex numbers. Thankfully, Google has a built-in calculator, and you can do your calculations right there in the search bar, saving you time and effort. Remember to use the star sign (*) to represent ‘times by’ and the slash (/) to represent ‘divide by’.

Near Me

Google is also able to help you when you are looking for something near to you. You might want to find the nearest stationery store or computer supply place, or you might be looking for somewhere to have the Ultra V Lift Pro carried out because you like the idea of gaining more confidence. All you need to do is type your query followed by ‘near me’ (for example, ‘stationery store near me’), and you’ll get a list of the nearest places.
