An Upclose Look at the Mazda5 Grand Touring Edition

Friday, August 23, 2013

When I arrived home from work to find the 2013 Mazda5 waiting for me in the driveway, I was very surprised at how sleek and sporty it looked right away.   It isn't as big and bulky in appearance like most minivans so the fact that it is considered a minivan is very surprising to me!   Of course once you see the inside, you'll see why it's a minivan.

Over the next week I'll share my experience with this vehicle in different scenarios but first I wanted to give everyone an in depth look at the inside and outside of the Mazda5.

EXTERIOR

I love the sleek rounded design of the exterior and the grill is very unique!

I have to say out of everything about the Mazda5, the backend is the only thing that reminds me of a minivan on the outside.   It has a boxier design yet the taillights give it a modern look.

And from the side you can see it isn't as tall as what most minivans are.  The side has a nice sporty sleek look as well.

Interior
This thing has so much interior room I love it!    It's very spacious and open and I didn't feel at all restricted especially when it came to visibility when driving.
The gauges are easy to see and read and I love how easy it is to put the car into reverse and drive. The grooves make it easy to push but not easy enough to accidentally bump into a different gear (which is a great safety feature especially when kids are around!)
 I LOVE THE SUNROOF!
All of the heating/cooling controls and Sirius/radio controls are on the main dash.

There was plenty of lights inside and I loved how easy it was to open the sunroof.

Trust me, you will totally forget this is considered a minivan when you sit inside!

Seating
There are two rows of seating , for 2 people in each row.   This is perfect for a smaller family that needs a roomier vehicle.
The door slides open on both sides, and it takes hardly any muscle to open or close because it's automatic.

Love the cup holder and arm rest in the back row!

Storage

The great thing about the Mazda 5 is that if you need extra trunk space, it's super easy to get it and if you don't it's super out -of-the way!
Here it is when the back row is up.
You just grab the two loops and push the seats down.

And voila!

This weekend I will get a lot more use out of the 2013 Mazda5 so check back next week to see more features and benefits.
