So I told you before how I was going to be trying the Atkins Diet and guess what?! This post is going to be all about Atkins 40 and how it went when I tried it for a week!
I will admit, I have been skeptical at times and I know other people have been too but once you educate yourself about Atkins you will understand how it works. Atkins isn't about not eating ANY carbs as many people think. It's about a low carbohydrate program that can more effectively help you lose weight. Rather than depriving yourself, Atkins lets you balance optimal protein intake, adequate healthy fat intake, and low carbohydrate consumption.
One thing I love is that I am able to eat from all food groups on this program!
On Atkins 40 you, just like me eat more vegetables than the USDA recommends and you will eat proteins like meats, fish, poultry, and plant-based proteins! I loved my frozen meals especially the Mexican-style Chicken and Vegetables.
Being able to eat such a great variety of things really helped me stick to this diet, because I didn't feel like I was being deprived. For breakfast I would always feel satisfied because I ate things such as bacon, turkey sausage, and oatmeal!
On Atkins 40 I ate dairy including whole Greek yogurt and cheeses.
Atkins Day Break Creamy Chocolate Shakes were a great snack in the morning!
I could not survive without some sort of a dessert and let me tell you the Pecan Caramel Clusters were delicious! There were so many fun things to eat and great options. I also had burgers and salmon!
The Atkins 40 plan helped me eliminate added sugars by eating more wholesome and fresh foods. I also learned how easy it was to adapt to a low carb lifestyle because I was still able to feel energized during my evening runs. The first day or so on the Atkins 40 was a bit of an adjustment only because my body was getting used to it but it didn't really effect me in a bad way at all! I realize now that there are delicious healthy food options out there, and a diet is not at all about depriving yourself. How can you stick with something you don't enjoy!?
The Atkins Diet is designed to flip your body's metabolic switch from burning carbs to burning fat and as a result you'll have less hunger and cravings! Next week I'll tell you more about some of the awesome frozen meals Atkins offers!
