Don’t Stop Apologising

The first step is to stop apologising. You need to make sure that you take ownership, and there’s nothing wrong with that, but there does come a point when you need to accept what has happened. When the guilt and pressure from hurting your partner gets too much, you may find that apologising feels like a way to get some release, but with that said, you need to know that you really need to show a bit of kindness. You need to show that you are empathetic and that you are willing to move on in every way you can. If you get stuck in a cycle of apologising, this may bring you and your partner down, which is the last thing you need.

Empathise

You also need to empathise with your partner. You need to make sure that you understand where they are coming from, and that you take on board whatever it is they’re saying. Understanding and empathising is a good way for you to open up and to make sure that you tell your story. Don’t try to spend all of your time proving that you have changed, and don’t try to fix your relationship with some grand gestures. If you do, then you may find that you end up struggling and that you also find it difficult to navigate things moving forward. Conflicts that continue to happen will hurt your partner even more, but a good way for you to work around this would be for you to try to take the time to understand where your partner is coming from and what you can do to give them some moral support.

Seek Help

Another thing you need to do is try to seek help if you feel as though you need it. Sometimes your relationship may be beyond repair, and in cases like this, it may be that you need to hire a spousal support lawyer. When you do, you can then count on them to work with you to make sure that you’re able to get the legal advice you need to get a clean break. At the end of the day, if you feel as though your relationship can be saved, then it could be worth trying to see a marriage counsellor. If you do this, then you may find that you can look to a brighter future and that you can also reset the foundation you need to build on your relationship moving forward. If you can keep this in mind, it will make all the difference.
