Mental Benefits of a Tidy Home

Having a tidy home isn’t just easy on the eyes but it is so good for the brain. I’ve found that even if life gets stressful and messy, having a home that is tidy and in order makes for one less major thing I need to worry about. Here are some ways it benefits your mental health and sanity when your home is neat and tidy.

Less Visual Triggers

Piles of clutter trigger me especially when I’m already overwhelmed and over-stimulated so when I see more open space and clear surfaces it just feels better overall.

Easy to Find

There is nothing worse than being stressed out or in a rush and you can’t find something you need. Having your home in order means everything has a place and is in it’s place. This also makes it much easier to clean and tidy after a busy day because you will have a place to put everything back in.

Room to Breathe

Quite literally, when you feel stressed or overwhelmed, having a clean and organized and open environment in your home means you can actually relax, decompress, and breathe in your down time.

Ready to Hang

If someone stops by unexpectedly or you decide to host some friends at the last minute, you don’t have to stress out and rush to get your house in order. It may just need a quick sweep or surface wipe down to be ready for company.

Overall Stress Reduction

When your home is in order you aren’t buying duplicates of things you can’t find, you aren’t spending money on more stuff if it doesn’t have room to fit, and you’re overall going to have less financial stress to worry about. It’s just better overall on your budget and your mindset.

So really, there’s no good reason now to get your home in order!
