Dear Reality TV,
It's time that I thank you for all you have done for me. I know some people have cut the cord on cable, but you are my guilty pleasure. You see, your reality TV shows like Jersey Shore, Siesta Key, Real Housewives, and Teen Mom have done so much for me.
I mean where to start....
When my life is calm and collected, it gives me some entertainment when I see other people trying to get their hot mess of a life in order because I realize, everyone goes through the same stuff.
When I watch the cast banter and come up with inside jokes, it makes me feel like I'm right there with them laughing at and understanding the joke, which I always say out loud later. It makes me remember to laugh and not take life so seriously.
I have grown up with many of the people featured in your reality TV shows over the years and even over the last decade. That gives me a sense of familiarity. I have seen the Jersey Shore cast go from partying and fighting to becoming a close knit family unit and watched them grow and raise their own kids.
I have also learned about toxic people and how to spot them and avoid them so I can always safe guard myself. I see how quickly those housewives spread gossip even when they say they won't repeat a secret.
I have watched my favorite reality TV stars learn hard life lessons which saved me from doing the hard work and making the mistakes to learn them myself. I have a healthy respect for young parents that raise their children without the support of society and even their only family members.
I have also learned many things like why becoming a reality TV star is something I would never want to do. I've even learned how to write an anonymous letter (Jersey Shore) and how dangerous it is to head butt a concrete wall (also Jersey Shore).
At the end of the day, after working hard and tending to my household responsibilities I have been able to just lay down for an hour or so before bed and enjoy some shameless entertainment.
So from the bottom of my heart, thank you for the memories and the entertainment.
Signed,
