How To Clean Your Fridge in 4 Easy Steps

Friday, July 3, 2020

The fridge can be a source a chaos in a person's home because within a few days it can become a jumbled mess where things don't fit, things get hidden in the back and end up spoiling, and spills and messes build up quickly.  So today I'm gonna show you how to do a simple fridge clean out in just 4 easy steps!

Remove Everything

Take every thing out, seriously.  Every single item in the fridge needs removed so you have a blank slate to work with.  Do this all at once so you can dedicate the time to do it as quickly as possible so food doesn't spoil.

Purge
Anything that has expired needs to go in the trash.   Anything you won't eat gets tossed, and while you're doing all this, group like items together on your counter so it's easier to put them away together when you're done.

Wipe the Fridge
Start at the top and move to the bottom.  Remove shelves and wash them with warm soapy water and then dry thoroughly.  Wipe down the inside walls and the very bottom of the fridge as well.  Don't forget the door! Make sure everything is dried completely before you reassemble the shelves and start to put food back.

Organize as You Replace
As your items go back in, keep them grouped together by category.  Sauces can go in the same door shelf, cheeses can go in the cheese drawer together, and bulk items like yogurt for daily lunches can go in the same area.  Arrange duplicates with the item that expires first in front so you use it up.

See? That wasn't so bad!!!
