Seeing a doctor is perhaps one of the most confusing moments for many people who notice a change in their well-being. In an IPSOS survey, it was discovered that about 30% of Americans visit the doctor yearly. Regardless of what your opinions may be, significant signs and symptoms should not be overlooked. The sooner you get assessed by a medical doctor, the better your chances of early disease detection, which gives you a head-start on treatment. If you are experiencing these signs, you should visit your doctor.

An unusually bad cold or cough

According to the CDC, an adult catches a common cold twice a year, while children get it quite often. Interestingly, many people do not visit the doctor as they blame it on the effects of bad weather. Although this may be true, it is not entirely so. Some medical conditions such as whooping cough, bronchitis, and pneumonia start with a cold and progress into a bad cough. The common cold usually takes about three to ten days to clear up. However, if your cold and cough seem to worsen after twelve days, you should immediately see your doctor.

Sudden weight loss

Several people aspire to shed off some unhealthy weight to function at optimal levels. Unfortunately, others suddenly lose an incredible amount of weight without engaging in any strenuous exercise. In many cases, this is a sign of an underlying condition. Thyroid malfunction, Addison’s Disease, and undiagnosed diabetes are a few of such examples. So how do you know that you shed off weight without trying? As a rule of thumb, you must seek help if you have lost over ten percent of your body weight in six months, when you have not made a conscious effort to do so.

Delayed speech in kids

Growing toddlers mark their milestones at varied periods; however, there may be reasons to suspect otherwise when delay sets in. Therefore, delayed speech in a child growing well may be due to an oral impairment. Challenges with the palate or tongue are usually culprits for this. All these, coupled with other signs in your kid, may indicate it is time to seek pediatric occupational therapy. This form of therapy would help diagnose the right problem and treatment needed to solve it.

Skin rash

Several people tend to ignore skin rash that does not itch or cause pain. Usually, what may begin as a harmless rash may become complicated due to a secondary infection setting in. As a tip, a rash on your skin is enough reason to seek medical advice as a precautionary measure.

Regardless of how minor the signs and symptoms may be, it is good to have it checked out. With this list, you can easily and quickly detect signs either on your body or on your loved ones and take action immediately. Early detection means early treatment. There is never a problem minor to be taken care of. After all, prevention is better than cure.
