What's the best way to deal with a friend of the family who you know is a troublemaker without causing any more unneccesary drama?

Dear Colleen:
Stay out of it as much as you can. If the drama isn't affecting you directly (your name is dragged into it or people are believing untrue things about you and turning on you) then it's best to just stand back and stay out of it. If you are dragged into it, be sure to explain to EVERYONE how you feel and that you aren't sure who is directly causing the issues but you are going to steer clear until everyone can come to an agreement to stop the gossiping and dramatic fights. Sometimes it's hard to back away from the drama but you will be glad you did in the long run.
Good luck!
