Simple Ways To Care For Your Body

Monday, April 22, 2019

As stupid as it may sound, taking care of yourself can often be pretty hard as it’s usually way down on the list of priorities and easy to put other people first instead of yourself. So what do you need to do to take care of your body?
Get Some Sleep
Doctors recommend that an adult should have an average of seven to eight hours of sleep a night. Although sleep needs are often individual and some people do need more than others, the effects of chronic sleep deprivation are not good as it affects your concentration, your mood, your attention, your memory, your ability to fight off infection, your libido, and your judgment.

Not getting enough quality sleep can also lead to weight gain, depression and cause serious health problems such as stroke, heart attack or diabetes. So make sure you schedule time in for sleep. Try moving your bedtime back by half an hour to see how that goes; it can make all the difference.

Stay Hydrated
Are you dehydrated? Mild dehydration can have an adverse affect your energy levels and your mood, so it is recommended that adults drink eight glasses of water per day, but you may need to increase or decrease that amount depending on other factors such as how much physical activity you do. Start by increasing to just one extra glass of water a day to what you are already drinking, and you may soon see an increase in your energy.

Eat Well
Nutrition is complicated with food allergies and food intolerances in abundance these days. What is healthy for your body may be unhealthy for someone else’s, but there are certain commonalities that most people could agree on. Cut down on sugar. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Eat a variety of foods. Maintain excellent portion control standards for your body. Nutrition is not about weight either; it’s about health and fuelling your body with good energy sources so that it can work to the best of its ability. Having healthy food ready to go is half the battle so by making freezer meals ahead you don’t have to meal plan and can easily pull out dinner every day. Exercise
Many people think of exercise as just something you do when you want to lose weight, but it does far more than that. Exercise helps combat disease such as high blood pressure, depression, certain types of cancer, stroke, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes. It boosts certain brain chemicals and can leave you feeling happier and more relaxed than before. Exercise boosts your energy, can improve your sex life and helps you get a night of better sleep. People often make all kinds of excuses as to why they can’t exercise (time, kids, health, etc.), but everyone can do this one simple thing: move more. Park further away. Take the stairs. Dance in your kitchen. Use soup cans to do curls. Play tag with your kids at the park.
