Home Improvements for Warm Weather

Tuesday, June 18, 2019

If there's one thing I know about the seasons, it's that when it's warm out, it's the best time to do some major improvements to your home. I always tell people that the winter should be more focused around stuff like refinishing a room, putting down new floors, painting, and bathroom makeovers because what else can you do when you're stuck inside during a snow storm?

But when it gets warm out for Spring and Summer and even into Fall, there are a few things you may want to look into improving around the outside of your home.

The Roof
No matter where you live, your roof certainly takes a beating. It deals with the heat of the sun beating down on it in the Summer and the snow piling up on top in the Winter. Your roof can withstand strong winds and it protects you from scary weather events like hail storms. Over time, you roof can need repairs and even a full replacement. Consider having a company like Westchase Roofing come take a look and see what options there are for your home. Maybe you can just have some new shingles put on or perhaps you need an entirely new roof. Now is the time of year to do that kind of stuff to your house.

Landscaping
Do you have trees that need cut back or even completely removed? Do you want to add more structure and dimension to your yard but you aren't sure where to get started? Hiring a landscaper can greatly help you improve the curb appeal of your home. Even if it's just your lawn, a professional can help you make the best out of what you're currently working with and give you tips for the future.

Pool Maintenance
If you have a pool, you know how much work it is. Sometimes people wait years to address a serious issue with a leak or with damage to the pool lining. It's always important to keep up with this type of maintenance so that it doesn't hit you all at once. Now is the time to get your pool cleaned up and ready to entertain well into the early weeks of Fall. Address any seeming flaws in the area of the pool while it’s drained, no matter how small the issue may seem (because you’d better believe that they can grow fast). Before refilling, give it a coat of paint such as AquaSheen - a durable paint will ensure that not only does the pool look welcoming and inviting, it will also stay safe and stable throughout the season.

Driveways and Sidewalks
A nice solid driveway and sidewalk don't just look good but they're many times regulated by the neighborhood or township you live in. If you have tree roots that are tearing up your sidewalk, consider getting some quotes on a repair job or complete replacement. As for your driveway, make sure you look into the right kind of material for your weather conditions and price range.

The Siding
It's time to get out the power washer or find someone to do it for you because your siding takes a really big beating during the year and especially if it's white, you will have grime and gunk all over it by the time warm weather hits. Now is the time to do any siding replacement, repair, or just a good wash.

What home projects do you have in mind for this year?
