6 Comfort Food Ideas

This time of year there are plenty of days it's chilly and breezy or even raining and you just feel like staying in the house and doing nothing.  My favorite thing to do on days like that is to make or order some comfort food to just help me relax and enjoy myself.  Here are my favorite ideas for comfort food this time of year!

Pizza
A frozen pizza is my go to meal when I am just not feeling like doing much cooking myself.  And I love that there are so many options for toppings depending on what I'm in the mood for.  And the best part is, there's little mess to clean up.  If you're feeling creative though, making your own with pre-made dough is super fun.  I've made all kinds like zucchini and butternut squash, buffalo chicken, and even my own take on meat lover's pizza.

Burger and Fries
Nothing quite hits the spot like a burger and fries especially when you order it to go from your favorite spot.  Since it may not be ideal weather conditions to make your own burgers, try getting them from somewhere like Five Guys Daphne  where you can quickly enjoy a delicious and warm burger with your choice of toppings and finish it off with some delicious fries.  Salty, hearty, and super yummy.

Soup or Stew
Another great choice is a hearty stew whether it's from scratch or from a can.  I also love soup like broccoli and cheddar or just plain tomato basil soup.  With stews you can often make them in a slow cooker which makes it even easier!  Warm and comforting on a cold day, a hearty stew or a delicious soup always hits the spot.

Breakfast for Dinner
There's also nothing quite like a flavorful breakfast dish for dinner. My favorite is eggs, bacon, and pancakes.  Sometimes we make our own omelets with whatever we have in the fridge, and sometimes I just want pancakes with lots of syrup.  Adding eggs to any breakfast for dinner dish gives you a good source of protein though, so I generally always include them in the meal I make.

Pasta
I love me some pasta as a comfort dish and the possibilities are endless.  You can do a simple spaghetti dish with meatballs (or without, your choice!) or you can do something much more involved like lasagna.  A frozen pasta dish is also a great choice!

Tacos
Tacos are a favorite in my house and of course I would eat them everyday if I could and they really are easy to make. I also make my own taco seasoning.  Sometimes I make my own little fancy taco bar where I get to choose the toppings out of nice bowls.  Other times I'm lazy so I just grab straight out of the bag!

No matter what you choose, make sure it's something you will really enjoy.  Eating is a fun experience that should bring you joy and nourish your body so it's completely fine to choose what you have a craving for.
