With a Jacket

Layering an outfit with a jacket is usually done when you want to stay just a little bit extra warm or you just want more coverage.  For some reason, a light scarf always looks so great with the entire finished look. I opt for the more sheer scarves when I'm layering with a denim or leather jacket.

As A Statement Piece
Wearing a toned down outfit with neutral colors can use a nice pop of color or pattern and a scarf is a great way to do that.  I suggest using either bright colored scarves or a fun pattern like leopard print, polka dots, stripes, etc.

To Keep Your Warm
In the most practical sense, a scarf is designed to keep you warm.  So sometimes you need to just throw one on to look cute but stay warm as heck.  Nordstrom plaid scarves are a favorite of most fashion bloggers, including me! You can wrap it around as many times as you want or even just wrap it over your shoulders as you sit at your desk at work.

What's your favorite way to style a scarf?
